Position Summary:
The Field Engineer 1 is responsible for assisting in the execution and optimization of hydraulic fracturing operations at the well site. This entry-level position provides technical support to the field team, ensuring safe and efficient fracturing activities. The role involves a combination of fieldwork, data analysis, and interaction with various operational teams to deliver high-quality services to clients in the oil and gas industry.
Key Roles / Responsibilities:
  • Assists in the setup, monitoring, and execution of fracturing operations at the well site.
  • Collaborates with field personnel to ensure proper functioning of equipment and adherence to safety protocols.
  • Monitors and records operational parameters, ensuring alignment with job design and client specifications.
  • Gathers and analyzes real-time data during fracturing operations, including pressure, flow rates, and chemical usage.
  • Utilizes specialized software to model fracturing processes and optimize job performance.
  • Provides recommendations based on data analysis to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Assists in the maintenance and troubleshooting of fracturing equipment, including pumps, blenders, and data acquisition systems.
  • Ensures that all equipment is calibrated and functioning correctly before operations commence.
  • Coordinates with maintenance teams to schedule repairs and preventive maintenance.
  • Adheres to all company and client HSE policies and procedures.
  • Participates in safety meetings, job hazard analyses, and risk assessments.
  • Reports any incidents, near misses, or safety concerns to the supervisor immediately.
  • Interfaces with clients at the well site, providing updates on job progress and addressing any concerns.
  • Prepares and presents post-job reports, highlighting key performance metrics and recommendations for future operations.
  • Stays updated with the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices in hydraulic fracturing.
  • Attends training sessions and workshops to enhance technical knowledge and skills.

Required Education, Experience, and Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in petroleum engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
  • Entry-level position: internships or co-op experience in oilfield services, hydraulic fracturing, or related areas is preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficient with Fracpro software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.

Working Conditions:
  • Bending, lifting, climbing, pushing, pulling, kneeling, sitting stand, walk, kneel, stoop, squat, pull, push, climb, crouch, crawl, talk, hear, and see and standing (occasionally) for long periods of time.
  • The essential duties of this position require moderate to heavy lifting and carrying.
  • Must be able to position oneself to work in confined spaces such as trenches, pits, manholes, attics, and tunnels and demonstrate manual dexterity and be able to use hands to handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls.
  • Exposure to moderate noise levels, vibrations, and bright lights; and exposure to dust, fumes, and gases; and all climate types including hot and cold temperatures, humidity, rain, snow, etc.
  • Able to wear common protective or safety equipment such as safety shoes, glasses, gloves, hearing protection and hard hats when needed.
  • React quickly using hands, fingers, or feet.
  • Must be able to comprehend and follow written and oral instructions.
  • Must be able to complete tasks even with frequent interruptions.
  • Must be able to use discretion and independent judgment as needed.
  • Must be able to speak clearly on the phone and to fellow workers.
