Job description

LaSalle Network is hiring for a Mechanical Engineer Designer to join a collaborative, high-energy studio at a well-established Illinois architecture, engineering and interior design firm. This opportunity is ideal for a recent graduate or early-career engineer who wants to build hands-on experience across a variety of project types while working alongside a team that values collaboration, career development and professional growth.
This role offers exposure to mechanical engineering principles and practices across a broad range of assignments, with the opportunity to work closely with in-house and consulting architects, engineers and contractors on impactful, community-focused projects.
Responsibilities
  • Act independently regarding architectural methods and complexities
  • Responsible for project and proposal quality and schedule
  • Perform normal and complex aspects of mechanical engineering
  • Consult with supervisor for assignments and direction on engineering complexities
  • Coordinate and review work with in-house and consulting architects, engineers and contractors
  • Carry out drafting and design assignments; assist Project Engineer, Mechanical/Electrical Engineer with project tasks
  • Perform field surveys
  • Ensure accuracy and timeliness of finished drawings
  • Ensure drawings comply with company standard details and drawing practices

What's Needed?
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering
  • LEED accredited professional preferred
  • Entry-level position; minimum of one year of experience
  • Experience with mechanical building systems and energy conservation for government, commercial and industrial facilities
  • Experience with engineering deliverables such as mechanical equipment sizing, system sizing calculations, material takeoffs, mechanical layout and detail drawing
  • Illinois licensed PE (preferred)
  • Proficient in AutoCAD; REVIT experience a plus
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Effective communication and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated engineering design efforts from concept through project closeout
  • Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills, with accurate attention to detail
