Job description

Position Summary:

Under the leadership of the Director, Medical Imaging, the Radiology Technologist is an active member of the Medical Imaging team that delivers professional medical imagining services consistent with the strategic vision, goals, philosophy, and direction of the department and CRHS. The Radiology Technologist performs radiographic procedures at a technical level with minimal to no supervision from the Director. This position maintains the qualifications to provide care for patients across the full spectrum of age groups: neonates, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Education:

Currently enrolled in an Associate’s degree in Radiology or Radiologic Sciences program or a technical or vocational radiology sciences program approved by the JRCT.

  • Experience:

This is an entry level job that requires up to two years of work-related experience, or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

  • Licensure, Registrations& Certifications:

Actively pursuing an American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification. Maintains a current certification in Basic Life Support (If BLS verification is not current upon hire, it must be obtained within three (3) months of hire.)

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Collaborates with the health care team members and works under the direct supervision of a Registered Radiologic Technologist to ensure the patient's well-being as evidenced by staff/client feedback.
  • Conducts basic radiologic studies using C-arm and portable equipment within the department, ED, or in surgery suites.
  • Employs the use of sterile technique and protocol during sterile procedures.
  • Processes and demonstrates a detailed knowledge of positioning and anatomy to facilitate the desired views as per physician orders.
  • Functions as part of an interdisciplinary team with positive interpersonal communication skills when communicating with patients, families, visitors, physicians, and staff in all departments of the organization.
  • Obtains required billing data and account registration ensuring that the ordered procedure matches the diagnosis on the requisition.
  • Operates within the A.L.A.R.A radiation standards of care.
  • Provides a safe environment for patients, visitors, and employees through identifying, correcting and reporting health and safety hazards.
  • Ensures the use of all necessary protective and monitoring equipment (badges, aprons, etc.) for self and others throughout the work shift.
  • Evaluates Medical Imaging quality, satisfaction, and regulatory standards to ensure compliance.
  • Works to continually identify new approaches that improve the quality and timeliness of Medical Imaging services provided.
  • Follows all department policies and procedures and ensures compliance with all federal and state laws, regulations, and JCAHO requirements.
  • Participates in staff development programs, CEU classes and regularly scheduled in-service programs.
  • Performs other related job duties as assigned.
