L'ingenieur en essais RF sera charge verification d'elaborer et de tenir a jour les plans de verification et de validation du systeme de communication de la constellation LEO de Telesat. De plus, il participera aux diverses activites d'essais menees sur l'ensemble du systeme LEO de Telesat en collaboration avec les fournisseurs et autres partenaires, et sera responsable de l'entretien du laboratoire.

Principales responsabilites

  • Participer aux activites d'essais au niveau RF et au niveau du systeme, y compris la planification, l'execution et la production de rapports d'essais
  • Elaborer des matrices de verification du systeme et des sous-systemes, ainsi que des plans et des procedures d'essais conformes aux exigences du systeme
  • Agir a titre d'ingenieur en essais RF et appuyer les autres membres du personnel technique au besoin
  • Jouer un role actif dans la conception de la configuration des essais des composants et des sous-systemes ainsi que dans les activites d'essai
  • Appuyer l'installation des cartes de bande de base et des composants RF ainsi que le processus d'essai initial, les mises a niveau et retrogradations des fonctionnalites logicielles et du micrologiciel, ainsi que les cas d'essai manuels et automatises
  • Rediger des rapports d'essai et des resumes des resultats d'essai
  • Configurer l'equipement d'essai, tel que les emulateurs de liaison par satellite, les generateurs de signaux, les analyseurs de spectre, etc.
  • S'assurer que le produit teste repond aux exigences techniques, fonctionnelles, de performance et d'affaires
  • Appuyer la preparation et l'execution des essais des systemes d'antennes

Formation et experience requises

  • Baccalaureat en genie electrique ou en genie des systemes, et idealement 2 ans d'experience en communications par satellite
  • 2 ans d'experience professionnelle dans les systemes de communication RF par satellite, avec une solide connaissance des techniques de modulation et de codage utilisees dans les normes modernes telles que DVB-S2(X) et DVB-RCS2
  • 2 ans d'experience pratique en essais RF dans les bandes Ka
  • Experience pratique de l'utilisation d'equipements d'essai RF (oscilloscopes, generateurs de signaux, analyseurs de spectre, emulateurs de canaux satellitaires)
  • Solide comprehension des principes d'ingenierie RF et des pratiques de conception
  • Comprehension averee des interfaces radio, des technologies de modem, de la modulation et du codage, ainsi que de leur impact sur la performance de la liaison par satellite
  • Experience en analyse de budget de liaison par satellite, avec une bonne comprehension des effets des perturbations sur la performance de la liaison
  • Experience avec les outils de gestion des cas d'essai et de suivi des defauts (Jira, Jama)

The RF Test Engineer will be responsible for executing, developing and maintaining system verification and validation plans of the Telesat LEO constellation communication system. In addition, they will participate in the various testing activities across the Telesat LEO system with vendors and other partners and responsible for maintaining the lab.

Main Responsibilities

  • Participate in RF and system level testing activities including test planning, execution and reporting
  • Develop system and sub system verification matrices, Test Plans and Test Procedures against system requirements
  • Serve as an RF test engineer and support other technical staff as required 
  • Plays an active role in component and subsystem test setup design and test activities
  • Support baseband board and RF components installation and initial test process, software features and firmware upgrades/downgrades, manual and automated test cases.
  • Create Test reports and summary for test results
  • Configuring test equipment like Satellite Link Emulators, signal generator, spectrum analyzer etc.
  • Ensure product under test meets technical, functional, performance and business requirements
  • Support antenna system testing preparation and execution 
  • Keep the lab functional and update to date with known hardware and software configuration to execute various test scenarios as necessary

Education and Experience Required

  • B. Sc. in Electrical, or System Engineering and ideally 2 years of experience with satellite communications
  • 2 years of work experience in Satellite RF communication systems with strong exposure on modulation and coding used in modern standards like DVB-S2(X) and DVB-RCS2
  • 2 years of hands-on experience in RF testing in Ka bands
  • Hands on experience using RF test equipment (Oscilloscopes, Signal Generators, Spectrum Analyzers, satellite channel emulator,)
  • Strong understanding of RF engineering Principles and Design Practices
  • Demonstrated understanding of air interfaces, modem technologies, modulation and coding and its impact on the satellite link performance
  • Experience with satellite link budget analyses with good understanding of effects of impairments on the link performance
  • Experience in test case and defect tracking tools(Jira, Jama )
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with engineering teams

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with various traffic generators like Ixia, Spirent
  • Experience in Linux
  • Proficient with MATLAB, python.
  • Familiar with BUC/LNB and Antenna technologies
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
