Description
The Monell Chemical Senses Center, founded in 1968, is the world's first nonprofit scientific institute devoted exclusively to basic research on the chemical senses: taste, smell, and chemosensory irritation. Research at Monell contributes to a wide range of scientific and practical knowledge including taste and smell loss with COVID-19 . With more than fifty Ph.D.-level scientists, the Center is making major progress toward understanding how the chemical senses function and their importance in everyday life. A full-time technician position is available immediately to perform studies in behavioral genetics, working in the laboratory of Dr. Danielle R. Reed. Responsibilities include human sensory testing sessions, lab management including ordering supplies and reagents, database management, data entry, mentoring students, assisting when needed in wet lab work related to DNA/RNA isolation and various genotyping methods. BA/BS in Psychology, Biology, Genetics or related field is required and programming experience in R is desirable but not required.
