Essential Functions and Responsibilities to ensure the quality and safety of the product will include, but not be limited to:

  • Enforce safety and quality regulations.
  • Review Production Schedules to determine and assign appropriate staffing to complete all Quality SOPs
  • Measure and examine materials and finished products to ensure conformance to established standards.
  • Conduct employee training in Quality processes, procedures, standards and safety procedures or assign employee training to experienced workers.
  • Confer with management to resolve worker problems, complaints or grievances.
  • Recommend or implement measures to motivate employees and to improve the quality and efficiency of the product and the process.
  • Record and oversee the record keeping of operational and production data on specified forms.
  • Provide information or indication of problems to Management.
  • Monitor performance of quality control systems to ensure effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Identify critical points in the manufacturing process and specify sampling procedures to be used at these points.
  • Create, implement, direct and monitor the inspection and testing criteria or procedures throughout production cycles.
  • Collect and analyze production samples to evaluate quality and provide feedback and interpretation to all relevant organizational departments, outside vendors, or contractors.
  • Identify quality problems or areas for improvement and recommend solutions or stop production if serious product defects are present.
  • Produce reports regarding nonconformance of products or processes, daily production quality, root cause analyses, or quality trends.
  • Review statistical studies, technological advances, or regulatory standards and trends to stay abreast of issues in the field of quality control.
  • Review and update standard operating procedures or quality assurance manuals.
  • Review quality documentation necessary for regulatory submissions, inspections and customer requirements and expectations.
  • Instruct staff on quality guidelines, testing procedures, or ways to eliminate deficiencies.
  • Confer with process engineers, plant operators, management, and packaging specialists to resolve problems in product processing and for ongoing quality improvement.
  • Interview, select, hire, train, motivate, evaluate, resolve personnel grievances, or recommend transfers, discharges, or disciplinary measures.
  • Requisition materials, supplies, or repair services.
  • Reports to work regularly and on time.
  • Perform duties safely and to report unsafe conditions or actions.
  • Assists in other duties as needed and directed.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Mathematical Skills – Accuracy with arithmetic, subtraction, multiplication, division, decimals, percentages, fractions, and algebra.
  • Language Skills – Must be able to communicate complex concepts in English, verbally and in writing.
  • Computer Skills – Must be able to use Microsoft Office, operate inventory software, time keeping or other business-related software.
  • Education – degree in Food Science or a Technical field or have equivalent field experience.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Skilled in monitoring, troubleshooting, critical thinking, process control, time management, following through, serving customers, and active listening.
  • Demonstrate understanding of regulatory issues, leadership, attention to detail, orientation to quality, deductive reasoning, problem sensitivity, problem solving, and skilled at decision making.
  • Knowledge of sanitation requirements for quality assurance and food safety criteria (HACCP), food production processing, chemistry, biology, Food and Dietary Supplement cGMP’s, human resources, and safety of personnel.
