Job description

As a QA Engineer on the Software team, you will analyze, test, & diagnose both code and documentation for FairCom's database software solutions  (FairCom DB, RTG, Edge, & MQ).

Your primary responsibility is to ensure the quality of FairCom's JSON APIs and web-based applications. You will use Jira tickets to manage your work, which includes creating test plans, using Python and PyTest to write automated tests, and using GitHub to manage code. You will use AI to augment all aspects of your QA abilities. Each test updates or creates a new PyTest program that the engineering team runs in the CI/CD pipeline.

The Day-to-Day:

    • Work collaboratively with Senior Engineers, Chief Architect, and Product Director to review and ensure FairCom's solutions are intuitive, beautiful, and reliable.
    • Write regression tests for each new feature or bug fix assigned to your Jira Queue.
    • Self manage throughout each sprint, balancing testing thoroughness with clearing the Jira task queue.
    • Create or enhance small, Python, test programs that test code changes made by developers. Ensure the CI/CD pipeline can run these tests against each build.
    • Create new issues for newly found bugs. When developers have fixed them, test them again to ensure they are completely fixed.
    • Write test plans and code in Python and PyTest.
    • Learn, adapt, and improve the quality assurance process, including estimating QA tickets and communicating effectively.
    • Analyze the user experience and documentation. Provide feedback and suggestions for potential fixes.
    • Troubleshoot, debug, and optimize FairCom's solutions.
    • Over time, learn about FairCom's database engine, integration engine, security, compliance, functionality, and architecture.

Requirements

    • A formal degree in Computer Science, Software Design, and/or other Bachelor's degree with equivalent on-the-job experience in Software Development.
    • 2+ years of experience coding in Python.
    • 2+ years of experience as a QA Engineer
    • Experience using AI to generate test plans, test code, and Jira tickets.
    • Troubleshooting and analytical skills
    • Must live within commuting distance of a FairCom Office

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience using PyTest with JUnit XML.
  • Experience working with IoT / IIoT devices and protocols, such as Modbus, OPC UA, and EtherNet/IP.
  • Experience programming in C, C++, JavaScript, Java, C#, PHP, and/or COBOL.
  • Experience using NodeRED and/or Node.js.
