Job description

Internal Job Title: Senior Programmer Analyst III - (Reinsurance / AI / Python Focus)
Onsite Position Location: League City, TX. (Marina One)
Status: Full-Time, Salaried
Report to: Senior Staff Analyst, with close partnership to team AI. consultant
We are seeking an advanced technical professional who will support reinsurance and pension risk transfer (PRT) business by building and modernizing internal systems used for reinsurance data processing, reporting, and deal onboarding. You will partner closely with business stakeholders to translate requirements into reliable, maintainable applications-primarily leveraging Python, modern data platforms, and emerging AI capabilities. This role is ideal for someone who can help advance actuarial initiatives, AI-focused work, and key PRT business solutions in a growing and evolving environment.
What You'll Do
  • Develop and maintain Python-based solutions for reinsurance data processing, automation, reporting, and deal onboarding support
  • Build and support integrations across systems and data platforms to improve reinsurance data quality and availability
  • Contribute to AI and large language model (LLM) initiatives by helping apply modern technologies to practical business solutions
  • Partner with business representatives to understand requirements and translate them into system requirements and technical specifications
  • Support actuarial and pension risk transfer (PRT) initiatives through new development and enhancement work across business-critical systems
  • Write readable, reliable, and maintainable code; follow software fundamentals and best practices
  • Test code changes (unit/system), review results with business partners, and ensure changes do not negatively impact other functionality
  • Provide strong customer service to internal and external partners
  • Respond promptly to production issues and support the systems you help manage. Most support needs are expected during core daytime hours, though occasional after-hours support may be needed as the environment evolves

What We Are Looking For
  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Professional application development work experience, demonstrated (not entry-level)
  • Hands-on development experience in Python and/or Java
  • Demonstrated ability to apply AI in practical business solutions; experience with agentic AI or AI-enabled automation is highly valued
  • Experience translating business requirements into technical specifications
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Insurance, reinsurance, or financial services experience (life and annuities preferred)
  • Working knowledge of reinsurance business processes and data
  • Experience with Databricks
  • Experience with Microsoft SQL Server, SSIS, and/or Azure Cosmos DB
  • Familiarity with data pipelines, analytics platforms, or cloud-based data environments.
  • Python development with common libraries such as Pandas and NumPy (and similar)
  • Familiarity with job scheduling/orchestration tools (e.g., ZEKE/ZENA)
  • Familiarity with large language models, AI coding assistants, and reviewing or understanding AI-generated code
  • Azure cloud experience (e.g., Azure Functions) and/or containerization (Docker)
  • Exposure to AKS (including cron jobs) and Azure DevOps repositories/pipelines/releases
  • Exposure to Rust is a plus, but not required
