DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS : Public Health Nurse I: This is the entry level position in public health nursing classification series. This position is responsible for performing the more routine tasks and duties assigned

Assignments are generally limited in scope and are performed within a procedural framework. GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB: Provide comprehensive professional public health nursing services in a variety of office, clinic, and community settings. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: (These duties are illustrative of typical essential responsibilities of the job, and may vary according to assignment) Public Health Nurse I: Under close supervision, performs routine public health nursing services for the public in offices, outlying clinics, and community settings.

Participates in Garfield County Public Health activities requiring RN participation and community outreach. Participates in continuing education offerings. Reviews all work products to ensure highest level of quality.

Performs emergency response roles, as requested. Other duties as assigned. CORE COMPETENCIES: (Representative of the knowledge, skills, and abilities expected of the position) Public Service: A commitment to the mission of providing exceptional services to the citizens of Garfield County.
