Job description

Set Design/Painting Advisor - Dance Theater
Hempfield High School

Job Summary: Design and paint all scenic elements for Dance Theater, working with adult staff, community volunteer builders, and student helpers in a timely and efficient manner.
 

Position Information & Responsibilities:

  • Part-time, no benefits
  • 2026-2027 Flat Rate - $2,944
  • Collaborate with Dance Theater directors and the PAC Technical Director to design preliminary drawings and a scaled model.
  • Collaborate with the costume designer for any necessary prop or costume elements that need to be designed or created for the production.
  • Facilitate designs and paint scenic elements with adult/student volunteers and paid staff.
  • Schedule volunteers to help paint large backdrops and scenic elements.
  • Facilitate all adjustments to last minute changes, set malfunctions/breaks and unique needs specific to Dance Theater.

Qualifications:

  • Understanding of how to effectively design and balance three-dimensional spaces.
  • Color theory as it relates to the stage and lighting.
  • Experience with scaled drawings and/or model building.
  • Photoshop, video editing, animation, and/or 3D modeling software skills beneficial
