FiberTel is hiring an Assistant Project Coordinator for our San Jose, CA location.

The Assistant Project Coordinator provides administrative and accounting support for fiber optic construction projects. This entry-level position assists with invoice processing, purchase order tracking, vendor payment support, data entry, and job cost reporting. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and interested in developing a career in accounting within the telecommunications and construction industry.

This role works closely with Project Managers, Construction Managers, Field Operations, Vendors, and the Accounting Department to ensure financial records are accurate and project costs are properly tracked.

Pay: $24-28/hr, DOE


Responsibilities: 

 
  • Enter and process vendor invoices into the accounting system.
  • Match invoices to purchase orders and supporting documentation.
  • Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable functions.
  • Track project-related expenses and job costing information.
  • Review invoices for accuracy and proper coding.
  • Maintain vendor records and supporting documentation.
  • Assist with month-end closing activities and account reconciliations.
  • Generate reports related to project costs, budgets, and expenditures.
  • Communicate with vendors regarding payment status and invoice discrepancies.
  • Support Construction Managers and Project Managers with financial and administrative requests.
  • Organize and maintain electronic and physical accounting records.
  • Assist with payroll support and employee expense reporting, as needed.
  • Perform additional administrative and accounting duties as assigned.

Qualifications: 

  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check. 
  • Basic understanding of bookkeeping and accounts payable principles 
  • Excellent data entry skills 
  • Proficient in MS Office suite 
  • High attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy 
  • 1-2 years in construction accounting or related experience 
  • Degree in accounting or related field currently in progress 

Working Conditions: 

This job operates in both office and field environments with occasional exposure to noise and other hazards. This job routinely uses standard office equipment. Occasionally spend time outside the office when meeting clients or need to check on vehicles.
