Job description

Your Contribution
As a Project Buyer reporting to the Head of Purchasing, you will be part of the N.A. Purchasing Team for compressors, motors, and pumps. You will interface regularly with the Program Management Team, and Engineering Team. You will help support the preparation of material costs and vendor tooling estimates for Acquisitions. You will be responsible for tracking performance to these material cost estimates and project timelines once the business is won. This role includes sending RFQs to bid list suppliers, working cross-functionally to evaluate supplier offerings/capabilities, negotiating the cost for components, working through the Mahle sourcing process, presenting at the sourcing table, and ultimately negotiating supply agreements with the selected supplier(s).
This role is responsible to:
  • Interface with Product Engineering to understand Bill of Materials and requirements
  • Send RFQs to suppliers on the bid list, analyze the results, and complete the sourcing process for each new part.
  • Negotiate and execute Supply Agreements for each newly sourced part
  • Track performance to business case numbers and sourcing timing once the business is awarded
  • Managing the procurement process from initial RFQ to start of production
  • Support the Team Lead periodically by providing material cost estimates for components as a part of the acquisition process

Your Experience & Qualifications
  • Bachelor Degree in Engineering, Business or Supply Chain Management from and accredited 4-year college or university
  • Tier 1 Automotive industry experience preferred
  • Detailed knowledge of markets of engine component commodities preferred
  • Understanding and use of cost drivers and market dynamics in engineer component commodities preferred.
