Our client is looking for a dedicated professional that aspires to become a valued addition to our team and grow their
career internally within the organization. They are searching for an Assistant Preconstruction Manager/Estimator with a
preferred (but not required) background of 2 years of preconstruction and/or estimating experience to join their growing team. Duties & Responsibilities
  • Estimating
    • Preparation of schematic, design development and CD phase estimates as required
    • Perform Quantity Take-Offs using On-screen Takeoff
    • Review proposal specifications, drawings and attend pre-bid meetings to better understand the scope of work and required contents of the estimates
    • Prepare, issue, receive and review supplier and trade partner proposals and pricing
    • Act as a resource to Project Management by providing cost information and developing cost estimates for changes in the work, during different construction phases when necessary
    • Must ensure a solid understanding of and comply with the principles of the company’s Code of Ethics
    • Attend and participate in onsite meetings with clients, owners, staff, and trade partners
    • Deliver estimates on time
    • Maintain positive relationships with trade partners, vendors, architects, and engineers
  • Project Preconstruction
    • Participate with Preconstruction Manager on Design Assist projects until the buyout is complete
    • Participate in pre-bid meetings, bid strategy meetings, and post-construction meetings as requested
    • Participate in creating estimates during various design milestones
    • Assist with managing Value Management exercises
    • Help Preconstruction Manager take pressure off of (not away from) Project Manager during project preconstruction
    • Aid in bidding and buyout process
    • Solidify relationships with existing and new clients
    • Work with the Preconstruction Manager on improving constructability review skills
  • Bidding Process
    • Assist the Job Captain on bid day with reviewing trade partner bids
    • Assist with providing clear scopes of work to all bidders prior to sending out ITB
    • Assist with Bid Leveling
Qualifications & Requirements
The Assistant Preconstruction Manager/Estimator’s (APME) primary objectives are to support the Preconstruction team by utilizing construction estimating software and tools to perform takeoffs, generate quantity surveys, and prepare detailed cost estimates. He/she will work closely with project managers and other stakeholders to ensure a clear understanding of project scope, objectives, and constraints, as well as participate in meetings to discuss design objectives, budget, and constructability issues. This position requires the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment. This is an entry-level position.
