SUMMARY
The Development Associate is an entry-level fundraising professional responsible for supporting the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of individual donors. Reporting to the Development Manager, this role plays an active part in growing the organizations annual fund by strengthening donor relationships, supporting moves management strategies, and ensuring consistent, high-quality donor engagement.
This position is both administrative and donor-facing. The Development Associate will manage outreach efforts, track donor engagement in the CRM, assist with annual fund campaigns, and support retention and upgrade strategies. This role is ideal for detail-oriented, relationship-drive professionals seeking to build a career in fundraising.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Annual Fund Support
  • Assist in the planning and execution of annual fund campaigns and events, including direct mail, email appeals, journeys in Bloomerang, and social media.
  • Coordinate campaign and event timelines and help manage cross-departmental tasks to ensure timely execution.
  • Support donor segmentation and targeted outreach strategies through CRM.
  • Track campaign performance metrics and prepare reports for the Development Manager.

Donor Stewardship and Engagement
  • Support donor communication and outreach through phone calls, personalized emails, handwritten notes, impact communications, and meeting scheduling.
  • Assist with donor research and prospect identification to expand the annual giving pipeline.
  • Monitor recurring donor activity and assist with upgrade and renewal efforts.
  • Coordinate follow-up communications and acknowledgements with donors to ensure timely and accurate stewardship aligned with giving levels and policies.

Administrative and Data Management
  • Maintain accurate donor records within the CRM and uphold confidentiality standards.
  • Support reporting and dashboard tracking related to annual fund goals.
  • Assist with coordinating tours, events, and small-group engagement opportunities through event logistics and donor communications as needed.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelors degree preferred or equivalent professional experience.
  • 0-2 years of experience in fundraising, marketing, customer service, or nonprofit work.
  • Demonstrated interest in relationship-building and philanthropy.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • High attention to detail and organizational ability.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with CRM systems preferred.
