The Mechanical Engineer I will perform broad entry level work on a variety of engineering programs. The entry level role will work on projects for large and small customers with aggressive timelines. The role will also determine an understanding of the customer's unique component design, validation, and release needs. The Mechanical Engineer I will be mentored and supported by team members on project work and customer interactions. We will focus on the preferred qualifications for This position is located in Livonia, MI.
As a Mechanical Engineer I, you will:
  • Partner with designers to produce 3D designs for mechanical equipment in an accurate and timely manner under the supervision of lead engineer or supervisor
  • Participate in engineering calculations and analysis for design efforts and projects
  • Read, analyze, interpret, and create technical documents, engineering drawings, and engineering documentation
  • Assist in the quality, cost effectiveness and timeliness of designs
  • Communicate progress, challenges, and next steps to customers, stakeholders and team members
  • Interface with internal and external customers and vendors to ensure satisfactory technical requirements and schedules
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure new and current customer demands and standards are met

To be considered as a Mechanical Engineer I, you will need:
  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or related
  • Exposure to complex mechanical systems (hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical motors and actuators)
  • Familiarity with Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software, SolidWorks or Siemens NX Unigraphics (UG)
  • Good computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to convey complex technical data to various audiences
  • Hands-on troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with the ability to provide robust solutions to complex problems in a timely and cost-effective manner

A successful candidate may also have:
  • Multiple themed entertainment industry or relevant engineering internships
  • 2+ years' experience utilizing SolidWorks in school projects / internships
  • Manufacturing experience machining, metal forming, code welding and composites
  • Experience designing mechanisms / animatronics
  • Interpretation and application of ASTM-F24 standards
