Overview

The Associate Project Controls Specialist is responsible for utilizing existing Project Controls procedures to solve routine or standard problems. They will perform routine assignments in an entry-level role to support the project. They receive instruction, guidance, and direction from others within the team, and they will leverage their conceptual knowledge of theories, practices, and procedures related to Project Controls.

Responsibilities
  • Provide administrative and support functions to the cost controls team through all project phases.
  • Assist in the implementation of processes to facilitate efficient cost controls operations, including budgeting, forecasting, and cost tracking.
  • Support the preparation and distribution of cost control reports, contributing to the timely and accurate communication of project financial data.
  • Assist in maintaining cost control software and tools, ensuring accurate and up-to-date data for cost reporting and analysis.
  • Conduct basic cost analysis, such as cost trending and variance analysis, to assist in cost-saving initiatives.
  • Support the cost controls team in routine administrative tasks, contributing to process improvement initiatives and fostering a collaborative work environment.
  • Under direct supervision, support the preparation of the project monthly forecast.
  • Under direct supervision, support the development and maintenance of the project plan.
  • Support the change management process as required.
  • Monitor subcontract progress and the value of work done against the invoice received to determine the monthly accruals.
  • Review actual monthly cost and commitments to ensure adherence to the project coding structure, thereby allowing for proper variance analysis.
  • Assist in preparation of the monthly cost spread in support of theproject cash flow.
  • Organize and support the risk review meeting.
  • Set up and update the Risk and Opportunity Register as required.
  • Assist the Project Controls and Project Accounting teams as required.
QualificationsRequired Education, Experience, and Qualifications
  • 4-year degree in engineering, construction management, business, finance, or related fields or
  • 0 - 2 years of relevant experience in project controls or project management
  • Commercial construction experience required.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
  • Proactive and eager to learn with a willingness to take on new responsibilities.
  • Problem-solving attitude and high level of coordination skills.
