Job Summary/Purpose

  • Individual shall have demonstrated skill in project controls obtained through working on Utility Infrastructure projects.
  • Supports Project Management team as needed to ensure successful execution of assigned projects by developing and maintaining project reporting, performing project assurance, and delivering cost and schedule certainty.
  • Supports governance process for Entergy's Stage Gate Process (SGP) and project management standards ensuringstandardization and continuous improvement in project delivery across Entergy's Business Units.
  • Promotes safe behavior and adherence to the safety rules on the project.

Job Duties/Responsibilities

  • Provides support in the various disciplines of project management and controls by applying fundamental schedule and cost control techniques.
  • Support in the development and maintenance of project schedules, plans, and Work Breakdown Structure (WBS).
  • Identify, analyze and document project schedule and cost variances between planned and earned/actual progress and conclude on possible impacts.
  • Supports the SGP Gate Reviewer analysis by providing data on cost, schedule, progress, risk and processes.
  • Provide analysis of contractor schedule data to identify key project issues, verify contractor progress, and review their performance trends; support Project Admin and Accounting in review of contractor’s invoices.
  • Collaborates with the project manager and other project team members to identify, characterize, and document project risks in a risk register and develops mitigation plans in accordance with the Standards.
  • Takes direction and provides support from project leadership in order to ensure quality cost, schedule, risk management, change management, contract management and reporting.
  • Facilitate and manage the Change Management process and document clearly throughout the project lifecycle; documents and tracks approved project changes. 
  • Implement best practices of project management and controls principles on projects of varying segmentations and types of contracts.
  • Creates project portfolio performance metrics and reports performance.
  • Work is performed in both an office setting and in field conditions.

Minimum Requirements

Minimum education required of the position:

Project Controls Spec II - CP

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Construction Management, Project Management (or related field) OR 4 years equivalent/related work experience (in addition to the Minimum Experience requirement) in lieu of a degree.

 Project Controls Spec, Sr - CP

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Construction Management, Project Management (or related field) OR 6 years equivalent/related work experience (in addition to the Minimum Experience requirement) in lieu of a degree.

Minimum experience required of the position:

Project Controls Spec II - CP

  • 3 years minimum experience in project development and project controls experience (utility capital project experience desired) OR 2 years of experience in the management and control of small, medium and/or large utility capital projects with an EPC or Engineering firm (desired).

Project Controls Spec, Sr - CP

  • 4 years minimum capital project management and/or project control experience with project controls focus. Utility capital project experience essential.
    • Desired: Project controls experience on large scale capital projects.
    • Desired: Experience of project controls implemented on projects executed under various types of contract agreements including EPC. Both contractor and owner construction project controls experience.
