Job description


We are looking for an entry-level Project Accountant to join our team! You will play an important role in managing financial workflows, tracking project costs, data entry, cost accounting, and generating invoices. You will work closely with project managers, subcontractors, and vendors to maintain accurate financial records and optimize project profitability.
Essential Job Functions:
  • Maintain financial records for projects in the project management system, and ensure accuracy in reporting.
  • Become proficient in generating AIA billing & reporting.
  • Work closely with the Operations Team to maintain accurate records and streamline workflows.
  • Respond promptly to the needs of vendors and subcontractors.
  • Collaborate with the project team to monitor and review all project billings, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Verify and process subcontractor and general condition payments.
  • Ensure timely and accurate construction billings for multiple projects.
  • Review Committed Costs, ensuring approved contracts and change orders are posted in the monthly requisition process.
  • Assist with job closeout, verifying final commitment balances and retainage payables.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements
  • 2+ years of proven experience in cost accounting, project accounting, preferably in construction
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance preferred.
  • Experience managing project budgets, schedules, and costing.
  • Proficiency in Procore (preferred), QuickBooks Online, and Microsoft 365 (especially Excel).
  • Understanding of General Ledger and Cost Codes.
  • Ability to prepare financial reports.
  • Perform business analysis, cost analysis, and risk identification skills.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Tactful, diplomatic, and professional when working with subcontractors and colleagues.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
