Responsibilities
La Amistad Behavioral Health Services Overview
A leader and innovator in the field of behavioral health for over 50 years, La Amistad is accredited by The Joint Commission and is a top performing facility (safety/outcomes) within Universal Health Services (parent company) for many years. At La Amistad, great effort is paid to matching client needs to our specialty services; also, matching the skills sets of our staff is equally important. We have top professionals in the fields of psychiatry, nursing, therapy and ancillary therapeutic specialists (art, recreation, equine and music). However, in large part, our "secret sauce" continues to be the dedicated MHT staff who are able to find the balance between empathy, education and communicating expectations.
We offer a number of options (tracks) for MHT staff, this includes PRN (as needed), Full-Time and our MHT Career/Clinical Track for aspiring clinicians. The MHT staff work directly with their assigned client population, and their primary responsibility is the safety of our clients. This is achieved through both robust programming and detailed client observations (Q-15's).
Essential Job Duties:
  • Assists and monitors client's activities of daily living. Consistently demonstrates an alert, sensitive and supportive attitude with clients, families, employees, and management.
  • Interacts therapeutically with clients in one-to-one situations, community and group meetings.
  • Has a basic understanding of common psychiatric diagnoses.
  • Has professional boundaries with clients and demonstrates the ability to be an effective communicator.

Qualifications
Job Requirements:
  • Education: High school graduate or equivalent. Bachelor's degree in psychology or related field preferred.
  • Prefer experience in a psychiatric hospital setting as a MHT working with children, adolescents and/or adults.
  • License/Certification: Not required.
  • Skills: Demonstrates the ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Clear background from criminal activity.
  • Physical Requirements: Extensive walking, standing, sitting, climbing stairs. Must be able to lift over fifty (50 lbs.) pounds.
  • This position is eligible for a $1 to $3 shift differential in addition to regular hourly pay rate
