Apogee Architectural Metals is a segment of Apogee specializing in aluminum framing, windows, storefront, curtainwall, and entrance systems. We provide integrated capabilities, including design, engineering, extrusion, finishing, fabrication and assembly, across North America. Position Summary

Entry level position to lead into FO Technician II and other roles in Engineering as experience is gained. Skill set and producing production drawings for fabrication, ensuring a quality, error-free, and on-time product that is profitable to the company while meeting internal and external customer expectations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Order Entry

    • Entry level understanding of order entry processes and procedures. Able to retrieve product and process related information to perform job related duties.

    • Entry level product knowledge and understanding of product operation, functionality, and compatibility within or in relation to framing materials and associated products.

    • Efficiently generate high quality production documents that are complete and accurate using AutoCAD, ERP, or other tools as applicable.

Education and Experience

  • Education
    • High school education or equivalent, preferred.

  • Experience
    • 1 or more years of industry experience working with fabrication/assembly of window, curtainwall, and/or storefront products

    • (OR) Formal AutoCAD training or equivalent software proficiency

    • (OR)1 or more years of experience design drafting commercial or residential window, curtainwall, and/or storefront products.

  • Required Skills
    • Communicate effectively in a verbal and a written manner, and the ability to identify an issue and notify project lead.

    • Be able to navigate through a set of shop drawings, whether internally produced or customer supplied.

    • Mathematical skills are essential to perform job duties effectively. Knowledge of algebra and geometry are desired.

    • Close attention to detail and focus on providing the most accurate information to internal and external customers.

    • Develop the ability to visualize in 3-D.

    • Ability to become proficient in understanding of the Architectural Metals products and processes.

    • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.

    • Ability to stay focused and manage tasks efficiently while working quickly and accurately.

    • Willing and able to work additional hours as needed to meet deadlines.

    • Computer software experience in the following software.

Desired:

  • AutoCAD.

  • Basic understanding of bill of materials.

  • ERP/Configurator tools

  • Acrobat and editing software.

  • Sharepoint Workflow.

  • Microsoft programs with efficiencies in Excel and Word.

  • Knowledge to navigate and use information in the ERM.

  • Use of various engineering tools.

Work Environment/Travel Requirements

  • Mostly an office environment with occasional visits to the manufacturing floor.

  • Extended periods of office work on a computer and in team meetings.

  • Occasional travel related to other sites / corporate.

  • Physical Requirements

    • Ability to work in both office and manufacturing environments.

    • Lift up to 10 lbs.
