E Design information

What is an E Design?

An E Design job involves creating digital interior design solutions for clients remotely. Designers use online tools, mood boards, and 3D renderings to plan and visualize spaces without in-person meetings. This role requires expertise in design software, communication skills, and an understanding of client needs. E Designers often provide furniture layouts, color schemes, and shopping lists for clients to execute the design themselves. It’s a flexible and cost-effective alternative to traditional interior design services.

What are the typical projects and collaborative workflows like for an E Design professional?

E Design professionals frequently work on projects ranging from digital layouts and electronic circuit schematics to architectural visualization, depending on their industry focus. They often collaborate closely with engineers, architects, project managers, or marketing teams to align design outputs with functional and client requirements. A standard workflow involves conceptualizing designs, producing drafts using specialized software, incorporating team feedback, and finalizing deliverables under set deadlines. This collaborative environment helps ensure high-quality design solutions that meet both technical standards and user expectations.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the E Design position, and why are they important?

To excel in E Design, a strong background in digital design principles, proficiency with industry-standard software such as AutoCAD, Revit, or Adobe Creative Suite, and a relevant degree or certification are typically required. Familiarity with electronic design tools, schematic capture, or architectural visualization platforms is often necessary depending on the specific area of E Design. Creativity, attention to detail, strong problem-solving abilities, and effective communication are crucial soft skills. These competencies empower professionals to create effective electronic or digital designs and collaborate efficiently within multidisciplinary teams.

Job description

CAREER OPPORTUNITY | ST. CHARLES, MISSOURI

Project Manager - Multidisciplinary A/E Projects

Full-Time | On-Site | Monday-Friday, 7:30 a.m.-4:00 p.m. Central Time

The Opportunity

DOTec is seeking an experienced Project Manager to establish disciplined, predictable execution across multidisciplinary engineering and architectural projects. This position will own project planning, coordination, schedule, budget, resource alignment, client communication, and closeout from authorization through final delivery.

This is a visible role for a practical manager who can bring order to complex work, convert commitments into executable plans, and keep multiple disciplines moving together while preserving the technical authority of the licensed professionals responsible for design decisions.

About DOTec

DOTec Professional Corporation is a multidisciplinary engineering and architectural firm headquartered in St. Charles, Missouri. We provide structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, civil, and architectural services to clients across a diverse project portfolio. Our St. Charles office includes approximately 50 employees, supported by an extended network of approximately 70 contract professionals across five countries. We combine the access and agility of a closely connected firm with the reach of a larger practice.

We are intentionally multicultural and value the perspectives and strengths our team members bring to the work. Founder, owner, and CEO Dr. Ildefonso Gonzalez promotes personal achievement, continuous improvement, advanced education, professional licensure, and advancement from within. Approved licensure and credential-development expenses may qualify for reasonable reimbursement under Company policy.

What You Will Do

  1. Own assigned projects from kickoff through closeout, including scope, work plan, schedule, budget, deliverables, and completion records.
  2. Maintain practical project controls: milestone schedules, action registers, risk and issue logs, decision records, and change documentation.
  3. Coordinate structural, MEP, civil, and architectural workstreams; align staffing and priorities with discipline leaders across domestic and international teams.
  4. Lead internal and client meetings, communicate decisions clearly, assign accountable owners, and drive action items to closure.
  5. Track fee performance, work-in-progress, percent complete, additional-services needs, invoicing readiness, and collection-support items with Finance and leadership.
  6. Coordinate quality-control gates with licensed technical leaders and confirm administrative and document-control readiness before issuance.
  7. Identify scope, schedule, budget, staffing, contract, and client risks early; recommend corrective action and escalate material issues promptly.
  8. Support proposals, fee and schedule planning, project recovery, process improvement, and development of junior project-management staff.

What Success Looks Like

  1. Teams have current schedules, clear priorities, named owners, and reliable delivery forecasts.
  2. Scope changes and project risks are recognized early, documented, and resolved through a disciplined process.
  3. Clients and leadership receive timely communication, coordinated deliverables, and dependable visibility into performance and risk.

Required Qualifications

  1. Bachelor's degree in engineering, architecture, construction management, project management, or a related field; equivalent relevant education and A/E experience may be considered.
  2. Seven (7) or more years of progressively responsible A/E, design-consulting, construction, or related professional-services experience.
  3. Demonstrated success managing concurrent projects involving scope, schedules, budgets, technical teams, clients, and external stakeholders.
  4. Working knowledge of professional-services agreements, additional services, quality-control workflows, permitting coordination, and project financial fundamentals.
  5. Strong communication, meeting leadership, organization, judgment, conflict-resolution, and multicultural-team skills.
  6. Proficiency with Microsoft 365 and project-management, document-control, accounting, or ERP systems; regular on-site attendance and occasional business travel.

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Multidisciplinary A/E consulting experience and coordination of distributed or international teams.
  2. PMP certification, PE licensure, architectural registration, or a comparable credential.
  3. Experience with resource forecasting, percent-complete reporting, WIP review, invoicing coordination, and project recovery.

Work Style and Leadership Expectations

We value skilled, confident, and accountable professionals who take ownership, follow through, address difficult issues directly, and help colleagues succeed. This role offers direct access to senior leadership and a meaningful opportunity to influence how the firm grows.

Work Location and Schedule

This is a full-time, on-site position at DOTec's St. Charles, Missouri office. The regular schedule is 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Central Time, Monday through Friday. On-site presence is an essential function because the role requires continuous coordination with executive leadership, discipline leads, technical staff, and controlled project records. No routine remote or hybrid arrangement is available. DOTec will consider reasonable accommodations as required by applicable law.

Compensation, Benefits, and Growth

  1. Company-paid employee medical, dental, vision, and life insurance coverage, subject to plan eligibility and terms.
  2. Annual paid vacation of two weeks during the first five years of service, three weeks from five through fewer than ten years of service, and four weeks beginning at ten years of service, administered under Company policy.
  3. Six (6) Company-paid holidays: New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas Day.
  4. Professional licensure and credential-development support, including reasonable reimbursement for approved expenses in accordance with Company policy.
  5. Direct access to executive leadership and substantial opportunity for advancement as the firm grows.

Work Authorization

DOTec does not offer employment-based immigration sponsorship for this position, now or in the future. This includes temporary nonimmigrant sponsorship and employment-based permanent-residence sponsorship, including F-1 CPT or OPT, H-1B, H-2A or H-2B, L-1, and TN classifications.

Equal Employment Opportunity

DOTec Professional Corporation is an equal opportunity employer. We do not discriminate based on race, color, religion, sex, national origin, ancestry, age, disability, genetic information, veteran status, or any other status protected by law. Reasonable accommodations are available during hiring. Employment requires verification of identity and employment authorization as required by federal law. This posting is not exhaustive and does not create a contract of employment.
