Job description

Primary Function
The Scheduler I is an entry-level project controls team member who supports the development and maintenance of project schedules for Dacon's electrical construction projects. Working under direct supervision, the Scheduler I updates and maintains schedules using established baselines, templates, and coding standards; collects and enters progress data from field and project teams; and prepares standard schedule reports for review by senior scheduling staff. This role builds foundational scheduling skills while supporting on-time delivery of substation, power system, and EPC construction projects. The position will be based in our Deer Park, Texas office located at 1300 Underwood Rd, Deer Park, TX 77536 and will report to Dacon's Project Controls Manager.
Duties & Responsibilities
Employee may be called upon to perform any or all of the following functions:

  • Update and maintain project schedules in Primavera P6 and/or Microsoft Project using established baselines, templates, and coding standards, under the direction of senior scheduling staff.
  • Collect progress data from field supervision and project teams; enter status updates on a regular cycle as directed.
  • Prepare standard schedule reports, two-week look-ahead schedules, progress curves, and progress summaries from defined inputs for review by senior schedulers.
  • Maintain schedule logic integrity and coding structures in accordance with established quality standards.
  • Assist senior scheduling staff with baseline schedule development and resource- and cost-loading activities as directed.
  • Compile and organize schedule documentation, including baseline records and update logs.
  • Coordinate with subcontractors to obtain sub-schedule information for integration by senior staff.
  • Track schedule milestones and flag discrepancies or missing data to senior scheduling staff.
  • Incorporate schedule changes and maintain version control of project schedule files under the direction of senior scheduling staff.
  • Generate and compile exception reports flagging critical issues impacting project timelines for review by senior scheduling staff.
  • Support the maintenance of project controls systems and documentation.
  • Support the preparation of schedule documentation for internal project reviews and client reporting.
  • Participate in project kickoff meetings, schedule reviews, and progress meetings as directed.
  • Perform special projects and complete other duties as assigned or requested.

Minimum Qualifications / Experience
Required
  • Associate's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field; Bachelor's preferred (2 years of relevant experience may be considered in lieu of the Associate's degree).
  • Minimum 1 year of project scheduling, project controls, or related construction support experience.
  • Working proficiency in Primavera P6 and/or Microsoft Project.
  • Basic understanding of construction scheduling concepts including Critical Path Method (CPM) and baseline management.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced project environment.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills and the ability to take direction from senior staff.
  • Driving is not required for this position.
Preferred
  • Familiarity with substation construction, medium- to high-voltage electrical systems, or utility-scale project environments.
  • Exposure to earned value management (EVM) or schedule performance reporting concepts.
  • Experience with Procore or similar construction management software.

  • Ability to sit for extended periods during computer-based work.
  • Ability to stand and walk intermittently throughout the workday.
  • Occasional lifting of up to 20 pounds.
  • Occasional travel to other offices or meeting locations.
