Description:

The Prep & Production Cook plays a key supporting role in the kitchen by preparing ingredients and assisting in basic food production tasks. This entry-level position is perfect for individuals looking to start a career in culinary arts. You will work under the guidance of senior kitchen staff to help ensure the kitchen runs efficiently and safely while maintaining food quality and cleanliness standards. 


Key Responsibilities: 

  • Wash, peel, chop, and slice vegetables, fruits, and other ingredients as instructed. 
  • Measure and portion ingredients for recipes and service use. 
  • Assist in preparing sauces, stocks, dressings, and other basic food items. 
  • Set up and break down prep stations before and after shifts. 
  • Properly label, date, and store food items according to safety standards. 
  • Keep prep and production areas clean, organized, and sanitized at all times. 
  • Follow all food safety and hygiene regulations, including the proper use of gloves and hairnets. 
  • Assist line cooks and chefs during busy service periods as needed. 
  • Receive and store deliveries; assist with stock rotation and inventory. 
  • Report equipment malfunctions or concerns about food quality to supervisors promptly. 
Requirements:
  • No/Minimal prior kitchen experience required – training will be provided. 
  • Strong interest in food, cooking, and kitchen operations. 
  • Ability to follow instructions and work well in a team environment. 
  • Good communication skills and a positive, dependable attitude. 
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays. 
  • Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 40 lbs.
