Job description

The S&L Team Member Level 1, or L1, is an entry level position in the shipping department that supports the flow of parts and material within the plant and to outside vendors and picking, packaging, and shipment of finished product. This individual has experience working in a warehouse environment and is comfortable using material handling equipment, including forklifts, hand tools, and power tools. The L1 moves and receives parts to and from other departments and stages them for shipment to outside vendors, picks and stages orders for over-inspection, and assists with packaging them for shipment to customers. The L1 will also receive training to get certified as a forklift operator and on the use of power tools used package metal parts, including band saw, miter saw, panel saw, and drills safely and effectively. The work conditions are typical of a warehouse operation and requires the use of safety apparel that includes hard hat, safety steel toed shoes, safety gloves and safety glasses. Additionally, the L1 will be required to understand all standard job functions relevant to their level so that this individual will be able to train others in the future and will be expected to adhere to high safety and integrity standards.

POSITION ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Functions at an entry level within the shipping department and will be trained in all basic functions related to part handling and shipment of parts.
  • Completes paperwork required in the shipping department.
  • Assembles crates and cuts wood used to secure parts for shipment.
  • Visually verifies condition and identity of parts moving into and out of the building and processes paperwork.
  • Verifies visual condition of parts and identifies issues with parts that may need further review.
  • Assists department lead and supervisor in investigating issues to figure out and implement solutions.
  • Understands warehouse workflow and inventory placement of goods.
  • Maintains the warehouse and environment at safe and clean condition.
  • Perform other duties and assignments as assigned in accordance with established Company mission and values.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Must be detail oriented
  • Desire to work with a goal of craftmanship
  • Ability to stand/lean/reach over extended periods of time. Must be able to lift 25lbs
  • Ability to provide consistent ideas for process improvements
  • Ability to learn specific skills and follow specific assignment directions. Works under constant supervision
  • Strong work ethic and high integrity

BASIC REQUIRED SKILLS (Equivalent combinations of education, licenses, certifications and/or experience will be considered)

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 0-1 years of experience in a fast-paced warehouse environment
  • 0-1 years of Forklift Experience
