The Job Details:

The Co-Op program offers an opportunity to be a contributing member in USCS’s transportation department.  Co-Ops gain hands-on analytics experience and expand their understanding of a 3PL’s supply chain function.

This is a unique opportunity to work alongside our professional team of analysts and be exposed to a corporate office environment. The co-op will learn much about the frozen food warehousing and transportation industry by helping USCS create solutions for our nationwide system of carriers and customers.

Responsibilities:

  • Run Weekly and Monthly Reports: Prepare and deliver regular reports for customers and management, focusing on key metrics such as performance, efficiency, and cost. These reports are crucial for internal decision-making and customer relations.
  • High-Impact Dashboard Development: Work on creating and maintaining Power BI dashboards that provide insights into management, helping to drive strategic decisions within the organization.
  • Maintain Internal Analytics Tools: Ensure the smooth operation of various internal analytics tools used for tracking performance, trends, and KPIs. This involves routine checks, updates, and troubleshooting as needed.
  • Data Synthesis and Reporting: Gather data from various systems (TMS, WMS, CRM, Power BI) to create cohesive, customer-specific reports. These reports often require customization based on unique customer needs and internal objectives.
  • KPI Monitoring: Identify, report, and monitor relevant KPIs that are essential for evaluating business performance and growth opportunities.
  • Carrier Performance Tracking: Report and track carrier performance through scorecards, helping to determine contracted volumes of freight based on carrier efficiency and rates.
  • Presentation Preparation: Collect and analyze data to create PowerPoint and Excel presentations for internal and external stakeholders. These presentations often require innovative approaches in data procurement, layout, and design.
  • Respond to RFPs and Business Reviews: Assist in responding to RFPs (Request for Proposals) and contribute to Business Reviews by providing insightful analysis and data-backed recommendations.
  • Ad Hoc Reports: Work on “ad hoc” requests as various stakeholders look for answers to questions leading to high business impacts.
  • Collaboration with Cross-Functional Teams: Work closely with teams across the organization, such as systems, operations, and billing, to ensure data integrity, share insights, and support various business initiatives.
  • Continuous Improvement: Actively participate in identifying areas for process improvement within reporting and analytics workflows. Suggest and implement enhancements to increase efficiency and accuracy in report generation and data analysis.
  • Training and Documentation: Assist in creating and maintaining documentation for internal analytics tools and processes. Provide training to other team members or stakeholders on how to effectively use these tools and interpret the data presented.
  • Data Governance: Ensure adherence to data governance standards and practices, maintaining the quality and security of data used in reports and dashboards.
  • Automation of Reports: Explore opportunities to automate repetitive reporting tasks using tools such as Power BI, SQL, or VBA, to streamline workflows and reduce manual effort.
