Multiple positions are included under this umbrella and responsibilities of these positions may vary. Examples of positions and responsibilities include:

  1. Court Clerk
    • Prepares cases and materials for trials, evidentiary hearings, and other court proceedings
    • Attends court hearings and magistrate proceedings
    • Administers oaths
    • Performs administrative and clerical duties during proceedings
    • Dockets paperwork received throughout the proceedings, including verdicts
  2. Data Entry Clerk
    • Create and process new cases in case maintenance system.
    • Process documents and orders; copy, certify, and distribute to required parties.
    • Check files, and paperwork to determine if all needed documents are ready for court.
    • Maintain case files to ensure accuracy of information.
    • Assist the public and other agencies with information concerning criminal cases provided/stored by the Clerk's office via phone and email.
  3. Customer Care Clerk
    • Delivers courteous and professional face-to-face customer service, resolving customer
    • Manages a large volume of on-site customers and provide appropriate solutions and alternatives within an acceptable time frame.
    • Responsible for accepting payments and balancing daily.

Entry level positions at the St. Lucie Clerk of the Circuit Court and Comptroller require:

  • Graduation from high school or a General Educational Development (GED).
  • Two (2) years of recent professional experience, or an Associates Degree from an accredited college or university is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Attention to detail and skill to produce accurate work Proficiency in basic computer applications, to include Microsoft Suite Knowledge of professional office decorum and procedures Excellent verbal and written communication skills Ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality while handling sensitive information Commitment to following established procedures and policies
