The Systems Group is looking for an energetic individual to be our next Design Engineer. We are looking for someone to help with the day-to-day issues that pop up but to also be part of the big picture and contribute to the long-term strategy of our operations across the country. Design Engineer Job Responsibilities:
  • Develop 3D models from sketches and data provided
  • Must be able to visualize, conceptualize and formulate a design in 3D from similar existing designs
  • Ability to learn quickly and work on multiple projects, travel required
  • Exercise independent judgment by utilizing the correct design criteria based on knowledge from customer data and project scope
  • Research new products and technologies to support our technology
  • Review customer drawings and other discipline drawings and any existing plan drawings for physical interferences and design requirements
  • Provide technical support for project engineers and managers, client inquiries and fabrication requests
  • Ability to coordinate with other Systems Group members and contractors across multiple software platforms
  • Effectively communicate with the project engineer, project manager and customer representatives to identify project design requirements
  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of equipment and piping designs
  • Must be able to visit job sites and take measurements for equipment design including performing 3D laser scanning
  • Must have prior experience using AutoCAD and Autodesk Inventor, or other 3D software
  • Will develop 3D simulations of equipment and piping movements

Bilingual Design Engineer Job Skills:
  • Must be a self-starter with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team are essential
  • Must have good communication skills and the ability to effectively communicate with multiple disciplines
  • Possess a strong mechanical aptitude
  • Knowledge of electric arc steelmaking a plus
  • Knowledge of metal plate fabrication and welding preferred
  • Knowledge of piping design and components preferred
  • Knowledge of heat transfer and fluid dynamics is required
  • Knowledge of integration of laser scan point cloud data into 3D modeling software is a plus
  • Experience with FEA and CFD is a plus

Experience and Requirements:
  • Education: Bachelor degree in Engineering, preferably Mechanical, Chemical or Structural
  • This is an entry level salaried position in the Engineering department and reports to the Engineering Supervisor
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen
