Registration with the Kentucky Board of Pharmacy (KBOP) is required within 30 days of new hire if not previously registered as a pharmacy technician in KY. Must renew registration with KBOP on day one if lapsed and must keep registration in good standing and renew annually.
Physical Requirements
May involve repetitive motion activities and prolonged sitting or standing (often for 8-10 hour shifts), frequent walking, bending, and reaching. Key requirements include lifting up to 25-50 lbs (stock/supplies), fine motor skills for handling small medication items, and clear communication/vision for dispensing and filling of medications.
Shift
Primarily covering shifts as needed including weekend shifts at the Community Pharmacy and Ryan White Services locations. Must be available to work during operating hours and days of operation which are subject to change based on location of assignment. May be required to work on some holidays which currently are being rotated by Ambulatory Pharmacy Services staff. Some weekend shifts are an expected part of the assignment. Shifts may be at KY Clinic Pharmacy, Beaumont Clinic Pharmacy, and Fountain Court Pharmacist Care Clinic in the Lexington, KY area.
Typical shifts may be assigned to work during operating hours of Monday-Friday (7:00am-9pm), Saturday and/or Sunday shifts per location operating hours. Late afternoon/early-mid evening shifts are typically not scheduled past 9pm. Operating hours and days of operation are subject to change based on location of assignment. Available shift hours and location varies based on needs of the department. Prefer candidates to be available year round including having some availability during campus breaks.
Job Summary
This entry level Pharmacy Technician position provides patient care in a fast-paced community pharmacy setting across multiple Lexington, KY locations, including KY Clinic Pharmacy, Bluegrass Clinic Pharmacy at the Beaumont Center location, and the Fountain Court Pharmacist Care Team. Primary duties for the non-certified pharmacy technician include filling and distributing prescriptions in a busy retail-based setting. These positions also support specialized programs including the Kentucky AIDS Drug Assistance Program, Ryan White Part C, Pharmacy Partners, and Mail Order services; and assist in our mission to ensure operational efficiency and high-quality customer service. The successful Pharmacy Technician will be reliable, punctual, works well within a team, and possesses exceptional communication and strong interpersonal skills. The ability and desire to work and grow in a fast-paced, complex, and ever-changing field within a dynamic and cutting-edge pharmacy is essential for individuals in this position. This role requires flexible shift coverage including weekend and may include some holiday rotations during operating hours which may vary by location.

Requires attention to detail and the ability to provide excellent customer service. Must be reliable and punctual. This position also requires teamwork, excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills. Must be able to communicate and be understood in the English language.

Preferred Education/Experience
One year previous work experience (preferably in a related field) is preferred but not required. Prefer previous pharmacy tech experience or work/classes in medical field. Hired candidate must maintain registration with the KY Board of Pharmacy. High school diploma or equivalent required. General chemistry knowledge, basic algebra, and proficient reading/writing/speaking in the English language, preferred.
