The Informatics Pharmacist Specialist supports pharmacists, physicians, nurses, and other healthcare team members as the resource for requests related to pharmacy system changes. The position requires thorough knowledge of pharmacy practice, pharmacy automation, clinical information systems, and pharmacy computer systems.

Job Description:

Baptist Health is looking for a Pharmacy Informatics Specialist to join our Central Pharmacy in LaGrange, KY! Remote opportunity for candidates residing in KY or IN.

The Informatics Pharmacist Specialist uses knowledge of information technology (IT) systems and medication-use process to improve patient care by supporting technologies that lead to safer, more cost-effective medication use.

This role includes automation and technology systems management, management of projects, and training and education. The Informatics Pharmacist Specialist supports multiple stakeholders as the resource for requests related to pharmacy system changes. The position requires thorough knowledge of pharmacy practice, pharmacy automation, clinical information systems, and pharmacy computer systems.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Works withManger of Pharmacy Automation and other BH leaders to implement, integrate, and maintain evidence-based and regulatory standards of clinical/operational pharmacy services.
  • Provides onsite professional consultative oversight to the maintenance, upgrading, evaluation, and implementation of pharmacy computer software systems and automation.
  • Supports pharmacy information software applications and pharmacy automation.
  • Manages and leads the pharmacy's informatics and technology/automation enhancement initiatives:
  • Coordinates and manages the implications of automation and technology associated with the medication use process.
  • Ensures integration, standardization and maintenance of pharmacy technology/automation systems.
  • Analyzes systems and operations involved with medication storage, preparation, and distribution to ensure cost-effective and optimal delivery of medication therapy.

Minimum & Preferred Requirements:

  • Graduate of an accredited College of Pharmacy
  • Kentucky Board of Pharmacyand Indiana Board of Pharmacy license or willing and eligible to achieve within 12 months of hire.
  • Kentucky license must specify that they are a preceptor.
  • At least 2 years hospital pharmacy experience (or similar experience) required.
  • Pharmacy automation experience preferred.
  • Completion of an ASHP-accredited PGY-2 residency in Pharmacy Informatics (or similar experience) preferred.
  • Proficiency with Omnicell/Parata, EPIC, and other pharmacy related technologies preferred.
