Histo Tech

Full-Time, First Shift

Responsible to section, stain and mount tissue specimens in preparation for microscopic examination by the pathologist. Assists the pathologist in making various examinations on submitted tissue specimens and subsequent preparations.

Job Duties

  • Prepares all fluids for tissue processing and replaces used fluids and processes all tissue specimens for microscopic examination.
  • Labels all cassettes and receptacles with number corresponding to specimen accession number.
  • Performs special stains hematoxylin and eosin (H&E) slides/cell blocks for histological preparations of various body fluids and tissue specimens.
  • Numbers specimens received into computer system with proper identification as to the patient and specimen type.
  • Assists with processing specimen(s) and frozen sections as required.

Requirements

  • Associate Degree

Preferred Requirements

  • Associate Degree in Applied Sciences preferred
  • Laboratory experience preferred
