Job description


Position Summary

The Server Assistant supports poolside service by maintaining clean, organized service areas while also assisting with timely and accurate food delivery. This role plays a key part in keeping service flowing smoothly by supporting Servers and Bartenders through bussing, resetting, and food running in a dynamic outdoor environment.

The ideal candidate has entry-level restaurant experience, demonstrates a strong sense of urgency, and is comfortable working outdoors in occasional heat, sun exposure, humidity, and rain. This position requires attention to detail, and professionalism, and serves as a developmental role for advancement into Server or Bartender positions.

Food Running & Service Support

  • Assist with delivering food from the kitchen or service stations to poolside tables, cabanas, and loungers.
  • Verify order accuracy, presentation, and completeness before delivering items to guests.
  • Deliver food promptly and safely using proper service etiquette.
  • Communicate clearly with Servers, Bartenders, and Culinary teams regarding timing, refires, and special requests.
  • Support proper service pacing by coordinating food delivery with Servers.

Table Maintenance & Poolside Bussing

  • Clear used bento boxes, glassware, and service items promptly from poolside tables, loungers, and cabanas.
  • Pre-bus tables when needed to maintain guest comfort and service flow.
  • Reset tables, loungers, and cabana service areas quickly and accurately according to service standards.
  • Transport soiled dishes, glassware, and utensils safely to designated dishwashing areas.

Service Area Readiness & Station Support

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of poolside service areas, server alleys, and support stations.
  • Stock and replenish service supplies including napkins, condiments, utensils, trays, and service ware.
  • Refill ice bins, water stations, and designated support items as assigned.
  • Assist Servers and Bartenders with service needs to support uninterrupted service.

Outdoor Operations & Safety Awareness

  • Work efficiently in outdoor conditions including heat, sun exposure, humidity, wet surfaces, and rain.
  • Maintain awareness of pool traffic and guest movement to ensure safe service.
  • Adapt to fluctuating guest volume and changing service flow throughout the day.
  • Support a clean, safe, and organized pool environment for guests and team members.

Side Work, Cleaning & Team Support

  • Perform assigned opening, running, and closing side work related to bussing and food running.
  • Complete general cleaning tasks using approved cleaning products to meet health and safety standards.
  • Respond promptly to spills or unexpected service needs.
  • Attend required meetings and trainings.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support overall pool and food & beverage operations.

Internal Relationships

  • Reports to the Restaurant General Manager.
  • Works closely with Bartenders, Server Assistants, Culinary, Pool Operations, and Restaurant Management.

External Relationships

Has limited, professional interaction with resort guests and members while supporting service operations.

Qualifications

  • Basic knowledge of food and beverage service standards and guest relations.
  • Working knowledge of menu items, cocktails, and poolside offerings.
  • Ability to communicate clearly in English to explain menu items and record orders.
  • Ability to multitask and remain organized in a fast-paced outdoor environment.
  • Ability to transport trays weighing up to 40 lbs. through poolside service areas.
  • Ability to maintain professionalism while working in outdoor conditions.

Education & Experience Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Six (6) months of prior experience as a Server Assistant, Food Runner, Busser, or similar support role preferred.
  • Resort or outdoor service experience a plus.
  • Must obtain and maintain any required licenses or certifications as applicable.
  • CPR and/or First Aid certification preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • Lifting 50 lbs. maximum with frequent lifting and carrying of objects weighing up to 25 lbs. It requires walking or standing to a significant degree, as well as reaching, handling, feeling, talking, hearing, and seeing.
