Eldora is the backyard winter mountain playground for Greater Denver, Boulder County, and Colorado's northern Front Range. Eldora is located just outside of the charming mountain town of Nederland, Colorado, about 20 miles west of Boulder and less than 50 miles from downtown Denver.

Eldora Mountain Resort employs up to 700 employees at peak season and has 680 acres of lift-accessible terrain for skiing and snowboarding, including a Woodward Mountain Park experience, and a world class Nordic Center.

Position Summary: Eldora's Ski School is looking for Entry Level SKI* Instructors to provide welcoming, inclusive, and fun learning experiences for Eldora guests. Instructors help guests build confidence, develop snowboarding skills, and discover a love for winter sports while supporting a safe, positive, and memorable experience on snow. This seasonal role is ideal for individuals who enjoy working with people, especially children, and who want to be part of a team that shares Eldora's insatiable passion for the outdoors and our community, and we don't see the point in doing something unless it is fun. We are looking for individuals who embody this statement and want to foster an environment where Eldora is 'the Place to Learn!!

Essential Functions/Major Responsibilities:
  • Must love working with kids of all ages and can communicate effectively with children and parents to build long lasting relationships with the entire family.
  • Must be able to share your love for skiing with Eldora guests in a safe and effective manner.
  • Teach skiing with a keen focus on the welfare of the students.
  • Have a desire to learn and develop personal skills by attending our free, ongoing ski & snowboard training.
  • Live the Eldora culture of being welcoming and inclusive while abiding by our policies.
  • Has an entrepreneurial mindset and sees an opportunity to build their brand through Eldora's client base and SRS products.
  • Work with the SRS team in teaching and non-teaching duties.
  • Must be able to access daily schedules and company notices electronically.
  • Adheres to all company safety policies and procedures, actively contributing to a safe working environment for self, coworkers, and guests.
  • All employees are expected to support Eldora's corporate responsibility commitment to protect the environment by participating in our Sustainable Transportation Program. This includes choosing alternative transportation, carpooling, using the employee shuttle, and avoiding onsite parking on weekends and peak days. These actions help reduce Scope 3 emissions, lead by example, and ensure adequate parking for our guests.
  • Must be able to work weekends and holidays as required by resort operations.

Specific Job Skills:
  • Ability to ski well, but we are looking for a 'people person' who has the desire to develop their personal skiing and/or riding skills.
  • Must be an excellent communicator and work well with others in and outside of the SRS department.
  • Previous experience working with children (4-14yr olds) preferred.
  • Must have empathy and patience.
  • High school degree or equivalent
  • Ability to meet company standards for background check.
  • Able to work long and irregular hours including weekends and holidays
  • Must be willing to teach any age range (child through adult).

Physical Demands:
  • Bending, reaching, climbing, pushing, pulling & prolonged standing
  • Eye/hand coordination & visual concentration on equipment
  • Concentrated reading and writing
  • Must be able to lift and carry items up to 50 lbs.
  • Extended periods of outdoor exposure
  • Extreme cold, extreme heat and sun exposure
  • Variation in temperature from hot to cold

Schedule:
  • Non-Peak Days (M-F): 8:30am-4:00pm
  • Peak Days (Sa/Sun/Holidays): 8:30am-4:00pm
  • This schedule represents an average work week and is subject to change based on guest volume, operational needs, and weather conditions.

Compensation & Benefits:
  • Compensation: Proposed hiring rate of $18+/hour, actual pay will be adjusted based on experience.
  • Benefits: This is a seasonal position eligible for season pass for employees/dependents and privileges at several other resorts. Several discount programs (i.e. food & beverage, retail/rental, tickets, etc.) also available. Additionally, this position accumulates sick time.
