Description
POSITION SUMMARY:
This is an entry level position designed to learn how to operate an industrial forklift to move, locate, relocate, and stack finished product incoming production materials and miscellaneous commodities. The Operator must learn to be accountable for the safe and efficient operation of the vehicle and may also be required to perform other associated duties. They are responsible for inspecting and maintaining their lift equipment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
โ€ข Learn the proper forklift techniques and lifting practices to transfer, process and load all steel materials and other goods.
โ€ข Understand SME procedures to feed production lines with steel beams and product as required.
โ€ข Learn the proper organizing procedures and appropriate locations.
โ€ข Operate equipment in a safe and efficient manner following prescribed work methods.
โ€ข Become trained and certified in OSHA and MSDS Standards.
โ€ข Maintain a clean, neat, and orderly work area.
โ€ข Conduct operations in a manner that promotes safety.
โ€ข Understand and maintain the appropriate records and reports to guarantee tight inventory control.
โ€ข Perform other duties as required.
This is intended to serve as a general outline of the responsibilities of this role. This outline will change/evolve as the position continues to develop.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
โ€ข TBD, may become a supervisor role as role develops.
QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • Prefer high school diploma, GED or equivalent and/or 0-1 year of previous forklift experience in heavy industry setting.
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing, if necessary, with co-workers, maintenance, supervisors, and inspectors.
  • Forklift operators are required to satisfactorily complete an OSHA approved forklift training program.
  • Capable of reading numbers and labels.
  • Must be dependable, reliable, and mature enough to handle equipment in a safe and sensible manner.
