Job description

At Network for Hope (NFH), we are committed to providing life-enhancing tissue donations that help improve the lives of individuals in need. As a Tissue Recovery Coordinator (TRC), you will play an integral role in facilitating the recovery, preservation, and transportation of donated tissues in accordance with industry standards. You will ensure that all procedures are performed with the utmost care, professionalism, and attention to detail, reflecting NFH's mission, vision, and values. This position may also involve non-technical duties such as maintaining supplies and facilities.
Key Responsibilities:
Tissue Recovery & Preparation
  • Identify and prepare donors for tissue recovery, including postmortem preparation and operating room sanitation.
  • Organize and prepare operating rooms or recovery suites for tissue recovery.
  • Manage logistics for transporting donors.
  • Perform aseptic recovery of tissues while maintaining sterility in line with NFH policies and procedures.
  • Collect blood, tissue samples, and cultures using surgical/medical instruments per protocols.
  • Ensure proper post-recovery decontamination of the room, instruments, and equipment, including instrument trays for sterilization.
  • Record received supplies and maintain the supply room to ensure it is fully stocked.

Regulatory Compliance
  • Adhere to regulations and standards ensuring all recovery processes follow the required operating procedures and quality standards.
  • Verify that recovery documents, blood samples, and cultures are accurately labeled and complete.
  • Regularly review Standard Operating Procedures, attend required meetings, complete trainings, and check emails for updates.
  • Follow NFH's guidelines on attendance, tasks, mileage, holidays, Paid Time Off, and scheduling.

Other Duties
  • Consult with Tissue Leadership or affiliated tissue bank coordinators as needed.
  • Attend meetings and continuing education programs as required.
  • Assist with providing public and professional education programs as directed.
  • Participate in the training and mentoring of new personnel under the direction of Tissue Leadership.

Qualifications:
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent; post-secondary education or training in a medical or related field preferred.
Experience: Previous healthcare, pathology, or funeral home experience preferred.
Licensure/Certification: None required.
