Schedule & Work Location

  • Full-time position with availability to work at both East and West El Paso locations
  • Monday through Friday, with occasional Saturdays as needed

Job Summary:

University Vision Centre is seeking a Full-Time Entry-Level Optometric Technician to join our growing healthcare team. This role is ideal for candidates interested in beginning a career in optometry. No prior optical experience is required—we provide comprehensive on-the-job training and mentorship.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Greet and prepare patients for eye exams in a friendly, professional manner
  • Collect and document patient medical and vision history using electronic health records (EHR)
  • Perform pre-testing procedures, including auto-refraction, retinal imaging, and visual field testing
  • Assist optometrists during comprehensive eye exams
  • Educate patients on contact lens insertion, removal, and care
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of exam rooms and diagnostic equipment
  • Provide general support to ensure efficient clinic operations

Qualifications & Skills:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational abilities
  • Comfortable using computers and learning new healthcare software
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred, but not required
  • Previous healthcare, medical assistant, or optical experience is a plus, but not required
