Position overview: This position is responsible for operating production equipment in the carbon plant.
How you will impact Ingevity:
  • Monitor DCS graphics and controls to effectively operator equipment
  • Respond to DCS alarms in a timely manner
  • Ensure the DCS controls are monitored at all times by qualified individuals
  • Operate equipment in a stable manner during "start up" or "shut down" conditions
  • Report and address any abnormalities
  • Perform minor equipment troubleshooting activities
  • Ability to conduct risk assessment and authorize maintenance personnel to conduct work in their assigned area
  • Perform any standard testing required for the area
  • Follows DOIs (Daily Operating Instructions)
  • Emails required positions on vital information
  • Records relevant information in log sheets at end of the shift
  • Perform Lock Out Tag Out as necessary
  • Ensure environmental permits are satisfied
  • Keeps work area clean
  • Participate in incident investigations as needed

What you need to Succeed:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Two years of production experience
  • Demonstrate math skills commensurate with the job requirements.
  • Strong written and oral communication
  • Strong computer skills
  • Ability to think ahead and coordinate - be proactive
  • Ability to manage situations under pressure
  • Pay keen attention to detail to detect process abnormalities

Physical Requirements:
The requirements described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee:
  • Must be able to work at heights
  • Must be able to work in confined spaces
  • Must not have a problem working outside (in the elements) for short periods of time
  • Must be able to observe and hear warning signs and signals within all areas of the company
  • Must be able to stand 12 hours a day (with periodic breaks allowed) and walk up to an hour
  • Employee must be able to wear protective eye wear
  • Employee must be able to wear protective hearing gear
  • Specific vision ability required by this job includes close vision
  • Must be able to type on computer keyboard

Work Environment
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an encountered while performing the essential functions of this job:
  • Work is performed primarily in a outdoor or warehouse environment.
  • Work is performed in a dusty/carbon environment.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to low decibels but is constant
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced, team environment
  • Must be able to stay working at a given station, standing or sitting for up to 12 hours at a time
  • Pay keen attention to detail to detect process abnormalities
