Job description

As a Transfer Station Floor Attendant, you are responsible for ensuring that the transfer station operates in a neat, tidy, and cost-effective manner. This entry-level position is based at the Langley Transfer Station.
Schedule: Sunday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday | 9:00 AM - 5:30 PM (Mondays & Tuesdays off)


Key Responsibilities:

  • Site & Grounds Maintenance: Perform daily facility upkeep including litter pickup, power washing, and groundskeeping using equipment such as lawnmowers and leaf blowers to maintain a clean, tidy environment.

  • Material Handling & Product Care: Safely sort, process, and manage specialized materials, including Product Care items (paints, solvents) and Interchange fluids (used oil, coolants).

  • Equipment Operation: Safely operate heavy equipment-including forklifts and backhoes-to move materials around the yard and manage floor inventory (paid company training provided).

  • Customer Service & Traffic Control: Greet and direct site visitors, assisting the public with the safe and proper drop-off, disposal, and recycling of household items.

  • Scale Operations & Cross-Training: Complete cross-training on scale house operations to accurately weigh incoming/outgoing loads and support administrative operations as needed.

Knowledge, Skills & Competencies:

  • Must have a valid driver's license and access to personal, reliable transportation (site is not accessible by public transit)

  • Landfill experience is an asset

  • Backhoe & forklift experience is an asset

  • Knowledge of the handling, storage and disposal of Hazardous Substance and Dangerous Waste is an asset.

  • Experience or a mechanical aptitude would be an asset
