Position Overview

The Entry Level Building Operations Engineer is designed to develop future building operations professionals through hands-on training, mentorship, and progressive responsibility. Working under the direction of experienced Building Managers and senior engineering staff, this role supports the operation, maintenance, and overall performance of medical office and commercial properties. The position provides exposure to building systems, tenant relations, vendor management, preventive maintenance programs, regulatory compliance, and property operations while building the skills necessary to advance into higher-level engineering and property management roles.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with routine maintenance, repairs, and preventive maintenance activities for building systems and equipment
  • Respond to tenant service requests and support work order completion in a timely and professional manner
  • Conduct building inspections and identify maintenance, safety, and operational concerns
  • Support the operation and maintenance of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and life-safety systems
  • Coordinate with vendors and contractors performing maintenance and repair services
  • Maintain building records, maintenance logs, inspection reports, and work order documentation
  • Assist with inventory management, supply ordering, and equipment tracking
  • Support compliance inspections, safety initiatives, and emergency response activities
  • Participate in training programs and mentorship opportunities to develop technical and operational expertise
Requirements:

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Technical training, trade school education, or coursework in facilities, construction, engineering, or related fields preferred
  • 0–2 years of experience in building maintenance, facilities, construction, mechanical trades, or related industries preferred
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong customer service, communication, and organizational skills
  • Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn building systems and equipment
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
  • Ability to participate in an on-call rotation and respond to emergency situations as needed
