Bartender - 2026
Department: Food and Beverage
Employment Type: Seasonal - Full Time
Location: Rail Services

Bartending on the train is much more than fixing cocktails; you have the opportunity to enhance our guest's experience along their journey in our double-decker glass-dome rail cars! As a part of this team, you will give information while catering to the guests' food and beverage needs. You will play an integral role in ensuring our guests have a fantastic rail experience by providing outstanding hospitality.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Perform a variety of entry-level to moderately complex food and beverage preparation tasks; a large portion of tasks revolve around the preparation of cocktails for guests on board.
  • Regular entry of retail, food, and beverage items into the point of sales (POS) system.
  • Take orders and deliver them to guests on board the train.
  • Process guest payments and prepare reports needed for accounting personnel.
  • Answer customer, employee, and management queries, while upholding our high service standards.
  • Work closely with Dome partner to fill in as needed with narration and/or information on retail items.

REQUIREMENTS
  • One year of experience in positions involving cocktail beverage presentation, customer service, or serving.
  • Must have or the ability to obtain an Alaska Food Handler's Card.
  • Must have a valid alcohol safety card for the State of Alaska.
  • Must pass a pre-employment background check.
  • Minimum age of 18 years required to serve alcohol in the State of Alaska.
  • Minimum age of 18 years is required to reside in company housing, where available.
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States. Holland America-Princess is unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of employment visas at this time (e.g., H-2B status).

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
  • Proficiency in the use of computerized point of sales (POS) systems.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work, and maintain attention to time constraints, while working in a team or group environment.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple tasks and external influences.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while achieving daily goals.
  • Ability to support and comply with company policies, procedures, and guidelines including support and comply with company health and safety standards.
  • Ability to stand/walk/work on feet for a minimum of 8 hours per day.
