Intertek's Building and Construction division is a suite of Intertek brands that are industry leaders across multiple architecture, engineering and construction disciplines, developing the most innovative product and project solutions. Intertek's project-related assurance, testing, inspection and consulting services are the risk management and quality assurance partner you need to ensure the reliability, safety and performance of your new developments, existing assets and facilities. Intertek's Building and Construction Field Testing group is primarily focused on building enclosure field testing for new construction and retrofit projects.
What are we looking for?
As a Field Testing Technician, you will assist with field testing and building inspections. This position provides opportunity for growth and development within the department and company as we provide on-the-job training. This job requires travel most weeks Monday through Friday and a shared company vehicle is provided for work travel.
Shift/Schedule: Monday - Friday with travel most weeks
What you'll do:
Field testing projects and building envelope testing as assigned
Forensic investigations of building envelope failures
Communicate with clients and project team regarding site observations, test preparation, procedures, results, and reporting matters Prepare and submit accurate and concise reports on all projects assigned
Provide project coordination including planning, scheduling, execution and reporting
Consistent and professional interaction and communication with clients and project team

Additional Qualifications/Responsibilities
Minimum Requirements & Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED equivalent
6+ months experience using hand and power tools (drills, saws, tape measures, light carpentry, etc.)
Comfortable working with elevated platforms
Ability to learn the building envelope including wall cladding systems, curtain wall, window and door systems, waterproofing, roofing, etc. and their installation means and methods
Ability to learn and comprehend testing standards
Aptitude for working independently on assigned projects
Technical competency and ability to effectively communicate with customers and co-workers, both in writing and orally
Strong planning and organizational skills with the ability to meet changing priorities and strict deadlines
Good computer skills - Microsoft Office & Outlook
Ability to routinely lift a minimum of 50 pounds, climb stairs and ladders, bend, crawl, push and pull as needed
Willingness to travel 75% of the time or more
Valid driver's license and reliable driving record (required)
Preferred Requirements & Qualifications:
Associate degree in a technical field preferred
