Job description

WKBN is looking for an energetic entrylevel producer to help create content for both our television newscasts and our digital streaming platform, WKBN+. This role is ideal for someone currently working toward - or recently completing - a broadcast journalism or communications degree who wants hands-on newsroom experience.

You'll help produce daily newscasts, contribute to WKBN+ shows, pitch story ideas, write and edit content, and collaborate with reporters, anchors, and digital teams. Producers in our newsroom are working journalists who monitor scanners, phones, emails, and digital sources to find and develop stories.

We're looking for someone creative, organized, and eager to learn - someone who can work under deadline pressure and think beyond the obvious to create compelling content across platforms. A motivated journalist who wants to win the big story and is passionate about local news and telling the community's stories.

Youngstown offers great food, great people, and access to Ohio's largest metro park. Pittsburgh and Cleveland are each about an hour away.

Requirements and Responsibilities:

Strong writing and communication skills

Solid news judgment

Ability to work independently and multitask

Familiarity with nonlinear editing a plus

Education/Experience

Ideal for students currently pursuing a degree in Journalism, Communications, TV/Film, or a related field, or recent graduates seeking entrylevel newsroom experience.

Equivalent experience and training will also be considered.

Training/Equipment

Utilize stateoftheart television and digital production technology including OBS streaming software, and newsroom systems.

Work Environment/Physical Requirements

Highstress environment with deadline pressures. Must be able to sit, reach, communicate clearly, write news copy, and make decisions independently. May require lifting equipment up to 25 lbs.
