Job Title: Survey RodmanJob Description

We are seeking a dedicated Survey Rodman to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for assisting in field survey projects, ensuring data accuracy, and maintaining equipment. This position offers a great career opportunity for someone eager to learn and grow within the survey industry.

Responsibilities
  • Transmit survey data to proper files in the computer network and acquire data for field use.
  • Accurately and efficiently clear lines, establish points, tape, chain, and level for field survey projects as assigned by the Crew Chief.
  • Keep the crew's assigned vehicle clean, properly maintained, and stocked with necessary equipment and supplies as instructed by the Crew Chief.
  • Load for transportation, clean, and store field surveying equipment used by the crew.
  • Communicate and coordinate effectively with other crew members to facilitate timely and accurate completion of assigned projects.
  • Observe all safety guidelines and procedures, particularly when working around traffic or on active construction sites.
  • Accurately identify the various types of trees encountered while performing field survey work.
  • Assist in the training of entry-level rodmen as requested.
  • Cut and clear brush and trees from the line of survey.
  • Perform physical tasks such as standing, walking, using hands, tools, controls, reaching with arms, climbing or balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling, as well as lifting and/or moving up to 50-75 pounds.
  • When supporting SUE work, perform heavy labor, including using a jackhammer, digging, setting up sites, driving company vehicles, and site clean-up.
Essential Skills
  • Ability to perform physical work in Florida elements such as heat, bugs, snakes, and spiders for 10-hour days.
  • Willingness to travel out of town during the week.
  • Reliability and motivation to work hard, learn, and progress in the role.
  • Aptitude to learn the survey industry with good basic math skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience in surveying, construction, landscaping, or another transferable trade is preferred.
Work Environment

Work is conducted outdoors, often in extreme Florida elements. Crews typically consist of 2-3 members. The workday begins at 6 am, with travel to sites in a crew truck, and concludes around 4-5 pm. Overtime is required and is compensated at 1.5x. Plenty of breaks are provided. The role involves out-of-town work, with travel and potential overnight stays from Monday to Thursday, returning on Friday. Lodging and per diem are provided.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Tampa, FL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $19.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
