Job Summary
The Engineer - Network role provides technical support for the design, implementation, and maintenance of enterprise network systems using current technologies. Works under general direction to support network engineering initiatives across campus, WAN, and cloud environments. This role is also responsible for participating in project delivery, troubleshooting, and operational support to ensure reliable, secure, and scalable network services.
The Engineer - Network role reports into the Sr. Manager - Infrastructure, Tech & Ops.
Key Responsibilities
  • Supports implementation and maintenance of enterprise network solutions, including LAN, WAN, wireless, and cloud connectivity.
  • Assists in Fortinet SD-WAN deployments, configuration, and ongoing operations.
  • Monitors network performance and supports capacity planning and service improvements.
  • Troubleshoots network issues across switching, routing, and connectivity domains.
  • Participates in network upgrades, migrations, and project-related tasks.
  • Documents network configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.
  • Collaborates with Network Engineering, Security, Voice, and Infrastructure teams on operational activities.
  • Assists in evaluating new technologies and recommending improvements to existing environments.
  • Follows established standards and best practices for network security and design.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or a related field with a minimum of two (2) years of relevant network engineering experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Relevant experience includes supporting enterprise network environments (campus, WAN, or data center).

Technical Expertise:
Working knowledge in the design, configuration, and troubleshooting of network systems, including:
  • Routing & Switching:
    • Basic to intermediate understanding of BGP, OSPF, VLANs, and Layer 2/Layer 3 concepts.
  • SD-WAN & WAN Technologies:
    • Exposure to Fortinet SD-WAN preferred
    • MPLS, DIA, and Internet-based WAN connectivity
  • Security Fundamentals:
    • Experience with firewalls (Fortinet, Palo Alto, Check Point, or equivalent)
    • Basic understanding of VPN technologies (IPSec/SSL)
  • Core Services:
    • DNS, DHCP, IP addressing, and network service fundamentals
  • Wireless Networking:
    • Experience supporting enterprise wireless environments
  • Monitoring & Troubleshooting Tools:
    • SNMP-based monitoring tools
    • Basic network diagnostics and packet analysis

Preferred Qualifications
  • CCNA or equivalent
  • Fortinet NSE (entry-level, e.g., NSE4)

Cloud Networking:
  • Familiarity with Azure or AWS networking concepts
