Job description

Union College, a highly selective liberal arts institution located in Schenectady, New York, is accepting applications for the position of Women's Hockey Assistant Coach / Hockey Operations. Union College is an NCAA multi-classified institution that sponsors 26 intercollegiate sports. Ice Hockey competes in NCAA Division I ECAC Hockey, and 24 sports compete in the Division III Liberty League

Position Title : Assistant Women's Ice Hockey Coach/Operations Coordinator

Pay Status and Classification: Non-Exempt, Regular full time, In Person. This is a 12-month position. This position is not eligible for relocation assistance or visa sponsorship.

Supervisor: Head Women's Ice Hockey Coach

Position Purpose: Union College, a highly selective liberal arts institution located in Schenectady, New York, is accepting applications for the position of Women's Hockey Assistant Coach / Hockey Operations. Union College is an NCAA multi-classified institution that sponsors 26 intercollegiate sports. Ice Hockey competes in NCAA Division I ECAC Hockey, and 24 sports compete in the Division III Liberty League.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Assisting the Head Coach in all phases of the women's ice hockey program, including but not limited to:

    • Coaching practices and games.

    • Recruiting prospective student-athletes.

    • Student-athlete development.

    • Ensuring academic success of student-athletes.

    • Practice and game planning, rules and compliance.

    • Manage video preparation for games and practices.

    • Manage team travel and meals.

    • Creating team social media marketing plan.

    • Assists administrative assistant with all office tasks and Friends Group projects.

    • Liaison between Hockey staff and offices on campus.

    • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Management, Sports Management, Physical Education or related degree and/or equivalent professional experience is required; master's degree strongly preferred.

  • Evidence of at least two years successful ice hockey coaching experience preferred.

  • Demonstrated ability to recruit quality student-athletes.

  • Advanced knowledge of Sport Logiq (for pre- and post-game scouting)

  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, communication and computer skills.

  • Candidates must have an understanding of NCAA rules and regulations, along with a philosophy compatible with a liberal arts college with highly selective academic standards.

  • Candidate must be able to work successfully with a diverse group of individuals.

Compensation:

The expected hourly rate for this position is $20.00. Except for roles with a set rate of pay, the wage/salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The stated hiring rate/range represents the College's good faith and reasonable estimate of the rate/range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
