| Aspect | Entry Level Multi Engine Pilot | Commercial Pilot |
|---|---|---|
| Certifications | Private Pilot License (PPL), Multi-Engine Rating | Commercial Pilot Certificate, Multi-Engine Rating |
| Work Environment | Flight training, small aircraft, flight schools | Charter flights, aerial tours, cargo, passenger transport |
| Employer & Industry | Flight schools, training programs | Airlines, charter companies, cargo carriers |
Entry Level Multi Engine Pilots typically hold a private pilot license with a multi-engine rating and work mainly in training or flight schools. Commercial Pilots have a higher certification level, allowing them to be paid for flying and often work in passenger, cargo, or charter services. The main difference lies in certification level and job responsibilities, with Commercial Pilots having more advanced qualifications and broader employment opportunities.

Who is Steel Dynamics?
We are a leading industrial metals solutions company. We operate using a circular manufacturing model, producing lower-carbon-emission, quality products with recycled scrap as the primary input. We are one of the largest domestic steel producers and metal recyclers in North America, combined with a meaningful downstream steel fabrication platform. The company is also currently investing in aluminum operations to further diversify its product offerings. Our circular economy is driven by the passion and dedication of our innovative teams at each of our operating platforms: steel, steel fabrication, metals recycling, and aluminum.
The Steel Dynamics Aviation Team
Steel Dynamics is committed to achieving world class safety performance, and safety is always at the forefront of decision making across the company.
Our corporate flight department reflects that same culture through disciplined planning, crew coordination, and active participation in our Safety Management System, supporting a modern fleet that includes Challenger 3500s. The team averages approximately 300 to 350 flight hours annually, with a schedule that can range from weeks with little to no flying to higher tempo weeks of 20 to 30 hours, and a predictable planning cadence where most flights are scheduled about a week in advance and short notice callouts are rare.
Why Fly with Steel Dynamics?
Steel Dynamics puts employees first with a robust benefits package. We're also committed to the health and well-being of our team, urging employees to focus on wellness. When it comes to your health, we encourage everyone to take charge, take action, take care and be safe!
These are just some of the ways we show our appreciation and ongoing commitment to our employees.

Steel Dynamics is one of the largest and most diversified domestic steel producers and metals recyclers in the United States, with an estimated steelmaking and coating capacity of approximately 13 million tons, and facilities located throughout the United States and in Mexico. We operate using a circular manufacturing model, producing lower-carbon-emission, quality steel using electric arc furnace (EAF) technology with recycled ferrous scrap as the primary input. Our circular economy is powered by our three primary operating platforms: steel, metals recycling, and steel fabrication. Our steel operations produce steel products, including hot roll, cold roll, and coated sheet steel, structural steel beams and shapes, rail, engineered special-bar-quality steel, cold finished steel, merchant bar products, and specialty steel sections. Our metals recycling operations collect and process ferrous and nonferrous scrap from manufacturing and end-of-life items, such as automobiles, appliances, and machinery. This processed scrap is then sold to end-users for reuse, including our EAF steel mills, which produce new steel from the scrapped material. We sell a meaningful amount of steel to our own steel fabrication operations that in turn produce and sell structural steel joist and deck building systems to consumers.
