Avionics Technician

Location: Birmingham, AL Job Type: Contract 

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Avionics Technician to support WiFi modification installations on B-737 aircraft. This is a contract position based in Birmingham, AL.

Responsibilities
  • Install and modify wiring, cabling, and harnesses to support in-flight WiFi/connectivity systems on B-737 aircraft
  • Install antennas, radomes, servers, wireless access points (WAPs), and related line-replaceable units (LRUs) per engineering drawings and OEM instructions
  • Read and interpret wiring diagrams, engineering orders, service bulletins, and STC/STC-based install instructions
  • Route, secure, and terminate wiring per aircraft wiring standards (AC 43.13, manufacturer specs)
  • Perform structural modifications as needed to support antenna and equipment installation (e.g., doubler plates, fairings)
  • Conduct continuity, insulation resistance, and functional/operational testing of installed systems
  • Troubleshoot and resolve wiring, connector, and system integration issues
  • Complete required documentation, including work orders, inspection buy-backs, and maintenance records in compliance with FAA regulations
  • Coordinate with engineering, quality, and project leads on installation progress and any deviations from work instructions
  • Ensure all work is performed in accordance with FAA regulations, company procedures, and customer/OEM specifications
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area and adhere to all safety and FOD (foreign object debris) prevention protocols
  • Roles and responsibilities may change with or without notice at any time

  • Minimum 2+ years of commercial aircraft experience, preferably in an MRO environment
