The Senior Software Engineer, Information Security, plays a critical role in designing, developing, and maintaining advanced security solutions to protect enterprise systems. This position involves analyzing business requirements, troubleshooting complex issues, and implementing security controls automation following established development life cycles. The role requires collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure system reliability, scalability, and compliance with security standards. The engineer will provide expert guidance, lead problem resolution efforts, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that support business objectives and safeguard organizational assets.
About the team:
The Security Partners Engineering team focuses on protecting applications, platforms, infrastructure, and services by automating security control assessments. This team designs secure, resilient services and AI-driven workflows to enhance security evaluation and reduce enterprise risk. Collaborating closely with development teams, they improve productivity and maintain robust security standards. The team values technical expertise in cloud security, application security, automation, and software development life cycle processes. Members contribute to scalable, maintainable solutions that support Walmart’s commitment to secure and reliable technology environments.
What you'll do:
  • Create and maintain secure APIs along with frameworks for service-to-service or Agentic communications.
  • Architect scalable, highly available backend systems that process and validate security control evidence.
  • Build resilient integrations across security tooling ecosystems (scanners, CI/CD, internal APIs).
  • Develop pipelines that helps preserve audit integrity and traceability.
  • Build consumer APIs and aggregate data originating from telemetry signals and sensors, in a scalable backend database
  • Manage Agents, MCP servers, APIs, and infrastructure components that form part of our Security controls and Golden Path ecosystem.
  • Incorporate AI-driven workflows that include safeguards for secure coding and compliance validation.
  • Reduce security review cycle times while strengthening control consistency and audit defensibility. 

What you'll bring:
  • As a Senior software engineer, experience in building scalable, resilient, secure enterprise application platforms using microservices, APIs, and backend technologies. 
  • Expert skills in programming language such as Java or Python and in interfacing with a backend database using SQL queries.
  • Working experience in Cloud solutions platforms and CI/CD pipeline. 
  • Knowledge of triaging and fixing bugs in a microservice, n tier architecture and in big data platforms. 
  • Awareness about information security domains, specifically application security with static security scanning, Software composition analysis, vulnerabilities, threats, and exploits. 
  • Skilled in troubleshooting, debugging, and maintaining complex software systems.
  • Effective communication skills for collaborating with technical teams and stakeholders.
