Who We Are Looking For
The Systems Engineer I is an entry-level infrastructure engineering position within the Platform Operations team. This role is responsible for supporting, maintaining, monitoring, and improving the enterprise technology environments that support SwitchThink Solutions and our credit union clients. The Systems Engineer I works closely with senior engineers, service desk personnel, security teams, vendors, and client stakeholders to ensure infrastructure systems remain secure, stable, and highly available. This role spans server administration, virtualization, cloud technologies, disaster recovery, automation, and operational excellence in support of mission-critical financial services environments.
What you will do here
Infrastructure Engineering & Solution Delivery
  • Design, build, implement, administer, and maintain infrastructure solutions supporting SwitchThink Solutions and its credit union clients.
  • Support Windows Server, virtualization platforms, Microsoft 365 services, cloud technologies, storage systems, backup solutions, and enterprise applications.
  • Participate in infrastructure upgrades, migrations, technology refreshes, and modernization initiatives while ensuring solutions are secure, scalable, and aligned with business requirements.

Operational Excellence & Service Delivery
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve infrastructure-related incidents, requests, and performance issues in accordance with established service level objectives.
  • Execute maintenance, patching, change management, system lifecycle management, and operational support activities while maintaining system reliability and availability.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, standards, procedures, implementation plans, and knowledge articles to support operational effectiveness and service delivery.

Security, Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
  • Support cybersecurity, compliance, disaster recovery, and business continuity initiatives to maintain secure and resilient environments.
  • Collaborate with Infrastructure, Security, Database Administration, Networking, Service Desk, Project, and Client Success teams to deliver exceptional client outcomes.
  • Identify opportunities for automation, standardization, and process improvement while continuously developing technical expertise and contributing to a culture of innovation and continuous learning.

What you will need:
Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (preferred) OR equivalent work experience required.
  • 1+ years of experience in systems administration, technical support, infrastructure operations, or managed services required.
  • 1+ years of experience supporting Microsoft Windows operating systems and enterprise infrastructure technologies required.
  • Working knowledge of server hardware troubleshooting, PowerShell for automation and scripting, and infrastructure monitoring tools to support system health and performance required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Windows Server administration, Active Directory, and virtualization platforms such as VMware vSphere or Microsoft Hyper-V required.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft 365 administration fundamentals required.
  • Demonstrate competency with backup and recovery technologies required.
  • Demonstrates expertise in DNS, DHCP, and TCP/IP networking fundamentals required.
  • Demonstrates commitment to operational excellence by actively seeking opportunities to improve systems, processes, and personal skills required.
  • Strong communication skills to communicate clearly and professionally with technical and non-technical audiences required.

Preferred:
  • 1+ years of experience within a Managed Services Provider (MSP) environment preferred.
  • 1+ years experience supporting financial institutions or highly regulated environments preferred.
  • 1+ years experience with Microsoft Azure preferred.
  • Collaborates effectively across teams, sharing knowledge and contributing to collective success required.
  • MECM/SCCM or ability to obtain upon hire preferred.
  • Microsoft, VMware, CompTIA, or similar technical certifications or ability and desire to obtain upon hire preferred.
