Qualified lateral candidates will also be considered. Ohio Northern is a private university affiliated with the United Methodist Church, and its Pettit College of Law is a closely knit community built around small classes and individualized faculty mentoring. For more than 140 years, ONU Law has focused its educational mission on preparing practice-ready lawyers, an emphasis reflected in our clinical and externship placements and an Advocacy program ranked among the best in the nation by U.S. News & World Report. ONU Law is also home to one of the nation's first fully online part-time JD program accredited by the ABA. Candidates with experience as a practicing lawyer, judicial clerk, or law teacher are preferred, and we welcome candidates who bring a range of teaching interests and approaches, including experience with varied instructional formats and delivery methods.
Expectations include a normal teaching load of four courses per year, scholarly research and publication, and service obligations for the 2027-2028 academic year. Candidates must have a J.D. from a law school accredited by the A.B.A. or an equivalent degree from a foreign institution, a distinguished academic record, and a commitment to excellence in teaching and scholarship.
Ohio Northern University was founded in 1871, and ONU Law has been educating lawyers since 1885.
