Job description

San Mateo Podiatry Groupis the most established foot and ankle surgical practice in Northern California, founded in 1917. We provide state of the art solutions to clients with foot and ankle problems.


We are currently accepting applications for our Medical Assistant Externship Program.


Program & Applicant Requirements: To ensure a mutually beneficial experience, applicants must meet the following mandatory criteria:

  • Active Hour Requirements: Candidates must be actively working toward fulfilling required clinical externship hours as part of their current curriculum. We do not accept candidates who have already satisfied their required hours or those seeking unaccredited hours.
  • School Affiliation: Placement is contingent upon a formal Affiliation Agreement between San Mateo Podiatry Group and your educational institution. If an active agreement is not currently in place, we are open to establishing one for exceptional candidates.
  • Program Status: Must be actively enrolled and in good standing with an accredited Medical Assistant program.


What We Are Looking For:Upon successful completion, exceptional externs will be considered for open entry-level Medical Assistant positions within our clinical team. The ideal candidate possesses:

  • Strong commitment to exceptional patient care and customer service
  • Proficiency with patient intake and basic EMR charting
  • Knowledge of clinical procedure setup, e-prescribing, and outbound referrals
  • A strong work ethic, reliability, and professional communication skills


Compensation & Schedule

  • Status: Non-compensated clinical training externship (satisfies required academic credit hours).
  • Environment: Monday to Friday 8:30-5:30PM Daily, on-site at our modern, state-of-the-art facility in Burlingame.
