An entry-level medical scribe or transcriptionist’s job is to transcribe the oral notes of medical professionals made during a patient visit into the patient’s EHR. These documents become part of their permanent record to provide vital information for other healthcare personnel. In this career, you also work with data gathered using voice recognition software to correct errors that the AI system makes. Other duties involve translating medical jargon and acronyms into readable language for nonmedical staff and insurance companies. Your responsibilities also include maintaining the privacy and security regulations dictated by HIPPA. You may work with other files, including discharge instructions, medical reports, and those related to medicine use.
